Last Chance for Yearbooks
Do not miss the chance to order your 2016-17 Yearbook. A standard yearbook costs $20.00 and you can personalize the yearbook with your child’s portrait and name on the front cover for $5.00 more. Our yearbook is planned to include all color pages that capture student memories from the year.
Each class will be featured in the yearbook, and this will provide a great keepsake for your child’s time at Pathfinder. Order forms went home last week, but we still have some available in the office. You can pay by check, make checks out to Pathfinder Elementary, or you can order online at YBPAY.lifetouch.com with the Yearbook ID code: 11384617.
Spring Community Garden News
Spring is in the air! Are you getting excited for the return of the garden in the park? All of our little gardeners loved digging, planting, watering and tasting the veggies the past couple of years, but they had one request: FRUIT. Well, we are getting fruit!!!
A partnership between the Platte County Park Department, The Giving Grove, and community volunteers (like you and your kids) is putting in a community fruit orchard beside the community garden in Barry-Platte Park on Old Stagecoach road.
The Giving Grove is an organization that has helped plant over 100 orchards in the KC area. These fruit trees provide apples, pears, cherries, etc. for local residents as well as the needy. Our orchard will operate on the same principles as our community garden. Our goal is to educate and empower local children to experience the joys and benefits of growing their own delicious, nutritious food.
All are Welcome! We hope you enjoy the garden/orchard. Work as you are able, harvest what you need. The orchard will be planted Wednesday, April 5th from 1:30-approx. 3:30 (yes, that’s a PLC day, so bring the kids!) We will need 15 adult volunteers to assist with the planting, but all are welcome to come be a part of the excitement!
Please RSVP to Marianne at (573) 424-6392 if you are interested in helping plant the trees. Follow us on Facebook at Barry-Platte Community Garden and on the Nextdoor Barry Heights site for news and updates.
