A Note From Mr. McGough

Kindergarten Fun!
November is a very busy month! We are excited about learning all of the letters, sounds and beginning to read. The students are doing a great job learning their snap words. Please be sure to review all of this information with your child at home.
We are looking forward to learning about the first Thanksgiving and the early settlers. We will celebrate Thanksgiving with our own “Feast” while dressed like traditional Pilgrims and Native Americans. Our homeroom helpers may contact you to provide items for our feast. Thanks so much for all of your help.
Reading, writing, and math are an important part of our curriculum. Each night it is essential to review and begin to master the letters, their sounds, and be able to use them to sound out words that are implemented during writer’s workshop. In math, the children need to practice recognizing, counting, and printing the numbers (0-20). They will also need to be able to recognize and identify two and three dimensional shapes!
Thanks for remembering to send in a healthy, daily snack for your child.
Stay warm, dress in layers, and keep reading!

The Second-Grade had a Wonderful Month of October.
The Saratoga County 4-H presented to both second grade classes a program called, Echoes In The Dark. It was a great lesson about bats and echolocation. It included facts and myths about bats. We had hands on activities and got to play a great game that showed us how bats catch their food. A huge thank you to the Moreau H.S.A. for funding the cost of the program for both classes.
We also took our first field trip of the year. We had wonderful weather for an exciting day at Ellms Farm. The students enjoyed the cider, donuts, jumping pillows, slides, zipline, corn maze, wagon ride, and everything else the farm has available. None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for our amazing chaperones who allowed the day to run as smoothly as possible. Thank you chaperones!
