TMS Geography Bee 2016

Last Friday, January 22nd, Tamanend held its 2016 Geography Bee. Ten contestants from 7th and 8th grade (Logan C, Mary D, Tommy D, James F, Sabrina H, Joseph K, Ryan M, Kyle S, James W and Srikar Y) answered questions in front of a lively audience, each vying for the coveted title of SCHOOL CHAMPION! Drama ran high, right down to the final response; in the end 7th Grader James F. bested the field with his vast knowledge of the world. Congratulations to James, who has since taken an online qualifying test to see if he will moving on to the regional round. Also thanks to our runner up, 8th Grader Tommy D., 3rd place winner, 8th grader Srikar Y., and all our contestants at each round. GREAT JOB!

9th Grade Orchestra Lock-In

Tamanend Middle School hosted along with Lenape Middle School the first 9th grade Orchestra Lock-In on January 15th. The students enjoyed pizza, played games, watched part of a movie, and rehearsed a little bit for this coming Friday's VH1 Save the Music Concert performance. Mrs. Tosti said, "the two schools enjoyed getting to meet one another and compared schools, stories, and finding out how similar they were. It was a great evening to relax and just be kids." The students are very excited for their performance on Friday. It's the first time that both schools have ever performed together and what better way than to be able to help others through the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

Calling all Earbuds!

With the arrival of our new additional laptops, our teachers are incorporating more multi-media and differentiation in their lessons. Coinciding with this is the use of earphones to listen to screencasts and other audio or video. Tamanend has earphones available for students to use, but we encourage students to bring in their own earbuds for their personal use. Earbuds can be bought inexpensively at dollar discount stores, discount super stores, and most major pharmacies (please do not send your student to school with expensive earbuds). We recommend that students store their earbuds in a ziplock bag in ther binder pencil case when they are not in use.

CB partners with Microsoft to offer Microsoft Office 365

Central Bucks School District has partnered with Microsoft to offer Microsoft Office 365 to students in Grades 5-12. Office 365's productivity suite enables students and teachers to share documents, access Microsoft software applications online and work collaboratively. As the district increases both teacher and student access to educational technology, we wanted to remind you of a great opportunity.

Microsoft Office is available free for students in grades 5-12. Students may want to take the opportunity to install the full Office applications on up to 5 PCs, Macs or tablets for free. This includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Students can learn more about the process here: http://www.cbsd.org/365

Once downloaded, students can work with classmates online and see each other's changes in real time with Office Online, the full version of Office or OneDrive.
