Sharpen the Saw Sampler......Tell me more
In an effort to alleviate any confusion about next week's Sharpen the Saw Sampler. Information was shared with team leaders when Julie Whitney asked them to sign up for a time slot for your grade level.
Here's what to expect next Monday and Tuesday:
In place of a classroom Guidance lesson, your grade level is invited to participate in a "Sharpen the Saw Sampler" during the month of December. During this 40-minute time slot, there will be a "Sharpen the Saw" activity taking place in each classroom in your grade level. These will be led by myself, Mrs. Fliescher, Mrs. Larck, and our social worker interns. There will be two 20-minute sessions, so students will be able to choose two activities to attend. Each teacher will be given a certain number of passes for each of the sessions to pass out to students in their class. The activities are based on the 4 quadrants of Habit 7.
1. Body- Healthy Snacks
2. Mind- Makerspace with Legos and K'nex
3. Heart- Making cards for the children's hospital
4. Soul- Yoga/Mindfulness
Teachers will be invited to go and relax in the Guidance office during this time so that you may sharpen your own saws! We are excited about this fun, and hopefully meaningful, opportunity for our students. Thanks for your support!
Having a substitute in your classroom?
Quality instruction should continue in the absence of the teacher. If you must be absent you are required to provide detailed lesson plans for meaningful instruction for the substitute. These lesson plans should include:
Team Leader's name, room #, and phone extension
Class roster that is updated to reflect all students
Information regarding students with unique needs
Seating chart
Clearly stated objectives and instructional strategies
Materials and resources needed for the day
Discipline procedures
Medical alerts
Emergency procedures
Lunch procedures
Daily schedule
Class procedures
The sub folder should be accessible on the teacher's desk.
Richland Two Film Festival
Richland School District Two is hosting the 4th annual Film Festival!
Students and staff, we encourage you to participate in this event. This is your chance to show off all your creativity through video creation!
It is important for students to find a school contact. This could be a homeroom teacher or any other adult who can assist them through this process. Students must have a Richland 2 school contact to proceed. More information about the school contact can be found here.
There will be a red carpet screening night on March 23rd, 2017 for all entries that make it to the finals. Additionally, winning videos will be announced at the end of this screening event.
