THUNDERRIDGE WEEKLY UPDATE
Always A Grizzly
Patterson's Perspective
Thank you to those that were able to make it to Back to School Night. It was awesome seeing families in the building and being able to visit with teachers. We all look forward to a successful and collaborative school year. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to reach out.
Also, as you may know, the Board of Education voted unanimously to place a $60M Mill Levy Override and $450M Bond on the November 2022 ballot. You can learn more about the plan by viewing the 'Shaping Their Future' document attached below.
Have a great weekend!

Service Animals in the Building
We will have a certified service animal in our school helping one of our students/staff members as a form of an accommodation. The handler of the service animal is protected under the American Disabilities Act and has the right to be accompanied by the animal.
Please refrain from petting and touching the animal, since it has to fulfill a certain task for its owner. Thank you for your understanding and support. Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the school administration.
International Baccalaureate Update
Things in the International Baccalaureate world have gotten off to a great start this school year and there are some amazing things going on in the IBDP classrooms so far:
- In the Junior IB European History class, the students have been working on the Congress of Vienna and have been putting together a simulated meeting of the nations. At the same time, the Senior IB European History class is loving every minute with Mr. Kelly while they talk about the Russo-Japanese War.
- The Seniors are on their second semester of TOK and debating moral philosophy and how Kohlberg's stages of moral development impact our decision-making.
- In IB Environmental Systems and Societies the students are excited about their Eco-Columns where they will observe the life cycles of snails and shrimp.
- In IB English Literature I the students are "vibing" with the media bias work they have been doing as they analyze the language used within our media landscape to determine the bias.
This week in Advisement...
Freshmen β¨
Freshmen engaged in a presentation and discussion about executive functioning. Students will learn how strong executive functioning skills are key to becoming a successful student and adult. Students were asked to identify how they use executive functioning in their daily lives in a canvas assignment.

Seniors π
Seniors were introduced to the content that will be covered in Advisement this year. Seniors were reminded to accept the invite to the Senior Project Canvas course, as well as to set up their Senior Meeting with their counselor. Each teacher presented our Student Handbook and discussed school rules and policies.
