Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe
April 16, 2021
Good afternoon DCS!
We are beginning to plan dates for Grade 4 Promotion, Grade 4 Taste of RI, and FUN Days for all students, including DL. The only event that two family members can attend is the grade 4 promotion. All other activities will not include spectators. Keep an eye out for dates in the next coming weeks.

WPS TRAVEL INFO:
Anyone considering travel is asked to review and abide by the state’s travel orders and is reminded that students who travel to states with greater than 5% positivity rates are expected to quarantine for fourteen days prior to returning to school. The list of these states is always current and available on the RIDOH website. Students who are required to quarantine will have distance learning options made available to them.
If you are intending to travel to a state with a greater than 5% positivity rate during Winter Recess, we request that you make your travel plans known to your building principal or school nurse in advance. Your school nurses can also answer any questions regarding quarantine requirements, asymptomatic testing availability and more.
***Westerly's guidance is superseding the state recommendations.
***Includes International Travel

Attendance Update
Our RIDE data shows that 7%(21 students - in person/distance) are chronically absent. We are currently ranked 58 in the state! This is a big improvement from last week.
Come to school! The realistic goal is to have less than 5% chronically absent, but ultimately 0%. Chronically absent is defined as being out 10% of the days in school. This data impacts our STAR rating.
