What sparked the war was the assasination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife. The people responsible for that where from Serbia. After that, World War 1 started. It was Britain, France, and Russia who were known as the Allies, against Germany, Austria-Hungray, and the Ottoman Empire who were known as the central powers.
