Take Note
Week of December 14, 2015
Holiday Party, December 18th.
We will have our holiday party on Friday, December 18th at 10:30.
- I can't feed your child at the party if you do not return the RSVP form. Please do so as they were due last week.
- If you plan to attend (even if you aren't volunteering) go to https://docs.google.com/a/staff.lisd.net/forms/d/1V2SKNo8Q_evis_5uv7z6Rlyxn4360CSNZjNJ3SduLHw/viewform?c=0&w=1 and Melissa Thompson in our office will have your visitor badge preprinted to sped your check in on party day. If you have never checked in, she will not be able to pre print your badge as your Driver's License scan has to be on file.
- I am planning to have a meat and cheese tray , vegetable tray, some fruit, and a sweet treat for the party. I have tried to touch base with anyone whose child has dietary restrictions to insure there is something for everyone. If I haven't checked with you and you have concerns please let me know.
- Students will have a silly sock exchange. Boys bring boy socks and girls bring girl socks. Socks should be no more than $5. You are welcome to send them in early.
- I will need parent volunteers to help make it a success. There was a section on the RSVP to let me know if you could help at the party.
- I want to say a huge thanks to all the parents who have agreed to help. :)
- Kindergarten will not perform in a program that day.
Change in Specials
From now on, the kids will no longer split Music and PE on specials days. Coach Ingram and Mrs. Trigg have been very impressed with our Kindergarten group and feel they are ready for this change! :) (Yeah for an AWESOME group of kiddos!)
Please pay attention to our specials days and have your child dressed appropriately on P.E. days -especially SHOES. I list the days in our newsletter, on our website, and on the behavior calendar in your child's folder. Please note that for the remainder of this nine week's on the behavior chart if it says P.E. & Music it will be P.E. only and if it says Music & P.E. it will be just Music. (The first special class listed is the one they will attend all period.)
There is a new AWESOME chart in your child's folder. They can earn sticker for their chart many ways. For example:
- Return a sight word reader signed by their adult to show that they read the book to their adult. (These are the xeroxed sight word readers we send home most weeks.)
- Return a homework assignment on time. (Like this past week's Family Tradition artifacts.)
- Return completed monthly homework.
- Counting forward to 20, backward to 20, and up to 100.
- Doing something AWESOME!
Until December 15
Fifth grade is leading a drive to collect gently used coats (in any sizes) to help those in need. As you clean out for winter and replace outgrown coats, please consider donating.
Lost & Found
There are a lot of items in the school Lost and Found. They have been placed on a table just inside the foyer doors by library. If your child is missing any coats, hats, water bottles, etc. please stop by during school hours and look through the collection.
December 18th at 12:30.
Please remember that December 18th is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30.
Hour of Code
Our class participated Hour of Code with Mrs. E this week! We used the program FOOS coding (app or thefoos.com) to practice coding a character to do what we wanted it to do! The kids had a great time!!
Laminating Volunteers
Thank you so much to everyone that volunteered to help cut out the lamination for our class. A special thanks to Mr. Peele for meeting Friday's need. I kept a list of those that responded and will definitely be asking again as I seem to always have something in need of cutting!
Did you know....
Reading with and to your child is one of the single most valuable things you can do to foster their academic growth and development. Please, please, be reading with and to your child EVERY day-they are at a developmental stage where you will literally see their reading skills grow day by day!
