The race begins in Jackson, Wyoming and is the only race of its type to travel through four states before Ending in Evanston, Wyoming. The IPSSSDR ( International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race) were founded by musher Frank Teasley.

The greats are known as Doug Swingley, Jeff King and Libby Riddles. Doug Swingley is an American dog musher and dog sled racer who lives in Lincoln, Montana, who has won the race 4 times, his first win was in 1995.

Jeff King is an American long distance musher who is known for winning the 1,100+ mi Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race along the U.S. state of Alaska and the 1,100 mi Yukon Quest Sled Dog Race along the U.S. and Canada. Libby Riddles is an American dog musher, known as the first woman to win the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, she was born in Madison, Wisconsin. Her parents were Willard and Mary Riddles.
