Gentle Reminders

Picture Day is Coming

On Friday, October 15 we will be having our school picture day. Your child(ren) should have brought home an informational flyer this week. If you did not receive the information or have lost it, you can contact our main office to have the flyer sent home again.

Picture packages will be ordered entirely online. Parents can order pictures as late as the morning of October 15, but please don't wait that long. To see the available packages and order online, please visit the website for Van Gogh School Photography. Use our school event code: 20047701 to see your options and place your order.

Morning Drop-off

I know that mornings can be very hectic and sometimes we run behind for reasons beyond our control. I ask that parents continue to show patience and caution for one another when dropping students off at school. The safety of our students is our number one priority and sometimes that is put in jeopardy when we are too hurried.

If you need to get out of your vehicle to assist your child, please do the following:

  • Make sure that you park in a parking space or along the curb in the circle drive
  • Pull as far as possible around the circle drive so as to not block the entry
  • Turn on hazard lights

If your children can exit the vehicle on their own, please do the following:

  • Pull as far as possible around the circle drive and pull to the curb if possible before stopping to let them out
  • Remind your children to look before exiting the vehicle and crossing to the circle drive

I ask that parents and students try as much as possible to avoid crossing the circle drive itself. Whenever you are able, please get to your class line by walking on the outer portion of the driveway.

Spare Change to Help Expectant Mothers & Save Babies

The Women's Centers of Greater Chicagoland is partnering with St. Stan's Academy to collect spare change for the benefit of mothers who are in crisis. The WCGC provides pregnancy counseling, material goods assistance, and medical/social service referrals for expecting mothers. Students, families, and teachers at St. Stan's can help support this mission by saving some of their pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters throughout the month of October.

Here is what students need to do:

  • Take a bottle home (they will be distributed at school)
  • Collect spare change and put it in the bottle
  • Say prayers each night for pregnant mothers and their babies
  • Return the bottles to school when they are full
