SCPS Teacher of The Year

Thirteen was a lucky number on Tuesday night as we celebrated 13 Amazing Teachers of the Year! Special thanks to everyone who made this night a success for these teachers. Shoutout to PSE Teacher of the Year Lauren Siegel was named the SCPS Teacher of the Year. Congrats to all!

Wild Health COVID Testing to Close at Fairgrounds

Wild Health COVID Testing is closing at the Shelbyville Fairgrounds, today, 3/11/22 at 5:00 pm. Families wishing to test can come to the Shelby County Public Schools Central Office at the following times:

Sunday 1pm-3pm

Monday-Friday 3pm-5pm

Bring It to the Dinner Table: Southside

Southside Elementary had their third Bring It to the Dinner Table event this past week. We couldn’t make these events happen without some community partners. Thanks to Centenary United Methodist Church and Alix and Andy Schmidt for providing the food for our families to enjoy while they read the book Dragons Love Tacos. Thanks to the Kinnison family for providing the books. Thanks to everyone who lended a hand at Southside to make these past three events a reality.

School spotlight

Shelby County High School Percussion Ensemble

What do our SCHS musicians do on the weekend? Solo and ensemble competitions!

Check out our Facebook Page for a video of an ensemble from the SCHS Percussion performing a piece for judges at North Oldham HS. Way to go, you sound amazing!

Shelby County Public School Students at Kentucky United Nations Assembly

Shelby County East Middle, Shelby County West Middle, and Marnel C. Moorman all won Premier Delegations at KUNA!

East Middle School represented Honduras and presented a resolution on decreasing poverty and it passed through the voting committee. Resolution Sponsors Noah Hardesty and Caroline Smith.

MCM represented Cameroon as well as Haiti. Haiti's resolution on the Stability of Infrastructure in Response to Natural Disasters was also passed through the voting committee. Resolution Sponsors: Abigail Sebastian, Addison Garland, Ella Chambers, and Maddie Gilbert.

There were 20 resolutions presented and only 5 passed through the voting committees.

This Saturday was the Louisville Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Ms. Amanda Harris had four students from Shelby East Middle School participate. This was their 1st year participating in the Fair.

Zoey Van Zee came in 4th place for her category: Engineering Technology: Statics & Dynamics. She also won KPFF Engineering Achievement Award.

Emily Northcutt at MCM Celebrates International Women's Day

March 8th was International Women's Day AND March is Women's History Month. The phenomenal lady pictured is the librarian at Marnel C. Moorman School. Her library is known as the "Curiosity Center!" Congrats, Rylee Suttor!

Special Congratulations to former SCPS Student, Rylee Suttor, for ranking #1 in NCAADIII Women's Golf by @Golfstat after her win at the Savannah Invitational. What an awesome accomplishment. Way to go, Rylee, SCPS is so proud of you!
