From the Principal's Desk

It is hard to believe, but we are quickly approaching the end of the semester! Thank you all for a great first semester and for coming out to support all the students that have been involved in various extracurricular activities. I would also like to thank you for all you have done to support your student academically this year.

V.I.P. Scholarships Available to Seniors

Seniors, whether you are planning to attend a 2- or 4-year university or a technical/vocational school, the V.I.P. Parent Booster Club is offering scholarships that can be used for the pursuit of higher education. You could pay tuition, purchase books, or whatever else you need, and the check is made payable to YOU, not your parents or the school.


Check out this year’s scholarships:


  • Academic Scholarships: Ten $1,000.00 Academic Scholarships will be awarded to students who have demonstrated success at Schaumburg High School and in the community.

  • Jean Bajko Volunteerism Scholarship: One $1,000.00 Volunteerism Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated volunteerism at Schaumburg High School and in the community.

  • Special Education Scholarship: One $1,000.00 Special Education Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding special education student who has demonstrated success at Schaumburg High School and in the community.


Students may apply for more than one scholarship; however, they can only be awarded one scholarship. Applications are currently available at the links below.



All completed applications must be submitted online no later than Friday, February 17, 2023. Please contact Michelle Tunquist, mtunquist@gmail.com, if you have any questions.

Final Exams

Final exams for first semester will be given Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, December 20 – 22. The exam schedule can be found below:


Tuesday, December 20

Period 1: 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Period 3: 9:10 - 10:40 a.m.

Period 7: 10:50 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.


Wednesday, December 21

Period 2: 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Period 8: 9:10 - 10:40 a.m.

Period 4: 10:50 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.


Thursday, December 22

Period 5: 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Period 6: 9:10 - 10:40 a.m.

National Merit Scholarship Recognition

Schaumburg High School recognized students that excelled in the National Merit Scholarship program at a breakfast on Tuesday, November 15th. Schaumburg High School is proud to announce that Surag Nuthulapaty, Meera Pradeepan, Emma Radons, Nihaal Shetty, and Elizabeth Wang have placed as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists in the 2023 program! We are also proud to recognize Patrick Dima, Allison Flondro, Hailey Hoelzer, Sarah Lenehan, Divya Saikumar, and Anna Scheele on receiving Letters of Commendation!

Food Science and Nutrition: Soup for a Cause

On Thursday, December 8, students enrolled in the Food Science and Nutrition course at SHS ran a Charity Soup Luncheon for Schaumburg High School staff members. The luncheon raised $665 to support Schaumburg High School students and families in need of additional support. It should also be noted that the soup was delicious!
