Season of Lent

Lent offers us all a very special opportunity to grow in our relationship with God and to deepen our commitment to a way of life, rooted in our baptism. In our busy world, Lent provides us with an opportunity to reflect upon our patterns, to pray more deeply, experience sorrow for what we've done and failed to do, and to be generous to those in need.

D.E.A.R. SVS students,

It's about time to Drop Everything And Read!

Nevada Reading Week is next week! For more than thirty years Nevada Reading Week has been celebrated across the entire state - from small rural communities to larger urban areas. Activities often include book studies, author studies, literary readings by renowned authors, book fairs, and family literacy events. The stewards of Nevada Reading Week include PK-12 school librarians, educators, the Nevada Department of Education, the Nevada State Library, public libraries, community leaders, students and their families.

Nevada Reading Week serves to promote a life-long love of reading. From students in Pre-Kindergarten listening attentively on a circle rug to their teacher’s riveting read-aloud to high school seniors engaging in rigorous discussions about a novel, the joy of reading is evident.

The theme for 2020-21 is "Change Your World - READ". Please see flyer below for more information about each day.

Thank YOU and PTO!

Last week, 8 new security cameras were installed and our camera server was updated. This wonderful donation is directly related to your generosity through PTO fundraising events, such as APEX Fun Run, Carnival, and more. With 30 cameras, our entire school parameter is now covered!

Stay tuned for APEX this March as we seek to further improve our campus security and technology infrastructure!

Special Note

With the Governor's latest directives, we have been able to increase capacity and combine a few classrooms. See Roadmap to PK-12 Reopening Schools:

The Superintendent approved our changes to 2nd, 5th, and 7th grade. 8B does not need to move back to the gym on Monday when the few students return from our distance learning program. All good news!
