- Field Day (see detailed information below)
It is that time of year where Johnson Elementary comes together to promote teamwork and friendly fun competition with each class. Field Day will be held on Friday, May 20th (rain day is Monday, May 23th). Students, as well as some volunteers, are likely to get WET during several of the stations. Therefore, students will be allowed to wear swimming suits. T-shirts and shorts will be worn over the girls’ swimsuits and boys will wear t-shirts over their swimsuit shorts. Please be sure to have your children wear tennis shoes so that feet are protected and safe for all events. Please do not send your child in flip-flops or shoes in which they cannot run safely.
Sunscreen should be applied before coming to school since we will be outside most of the day. Also, please send a towel with your child to use after Field Day is over. Your child should also bring a change of clothes for after Field Day.
FOOD & BOTTLED WATER:
Hot dog lunches from the cafeteria will be available for purchase. Lunches from home may also be brought.
Snacks will be treated just like any other school day in the classroom. Please be sure to pack a healthy snack for your child, snacks will take place inside the classroom and brought from home this year.
Our wonderful PTO will be providing our students with bottled water as well as a special treat from Rita’s Ice!
We will need many VOLUNTEERS in order for our Field Day to be successful. This is the link to sign up for volunteer shifts and stations on Field Day.
Thank you, in advance, for your help and support throughout the year.
The J-List has more schoolwide information that might not be on this newsletter. Make sure to check it out!

Dragon Diamond Program
Our DRAGON DIAMOND program was created to cultivate kindness at Johnson Elementary School. Through our DRAGON CODE and monthly lessons on essential values such as generosity, helpfulness, and respect, we are inspiring positive attitudes and behaviors in our kids. This year, we are focusing on being “difference-makers” as we encourage our kids that their acts of kindness can make a difference in the lives of their classmates, teachers, and beyond!
HOW IT WORKS
Teachers who observe students being kind may give them a Dragon Diamond to be entered in a grade level drawing at the end of each week. Winners get to select a prize to remind them of their acts of kindness. While we cannot reward every student with a physical prize, we want to encourage our kids that being kind and doing the right thing is a reward in itself. Here’s where we need you!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Continue the kindness conversation at home! Ask your kids how they are making a difference at Johnson. Encourage them to include someone who may feel left out, brighten someone’s day with a compliment, help a friend who is hurt, or show gratitude to a grown-up. And when your child earns a Dragon Diamond, celebrate their kindness!
