Join The Howell Family During Homecoming Week 2016

When you think of some of your best memories, is a Howell Vikings or FHHS event on your list? As thousands of Viking fans and Howell alums can attest, it is truly a great time to be a Viking! Homecoming is the perfect opportunity to come back to FHHS and to enjoy the many events taking place! Where else can you wear your blue and gold and celebrate the great tradition of Francis Howell? Whether you are a current student or Howell alum, come out and show your Viking pride this week!

On Wednesday join us for the Powder Puff football game and homecoming festival. Enjoy games, food, introduction of Homecoming Court, Cheer and Golden Girl performances, a special Powder Puff Boys Cheer routine, and our Lady Vikings taking to the field for the Powder Puff football game. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the Powder Puff football game starting at 6.

On Friday night enjoy the homecoming football game as our Vikings take on FZW. Viking fans will also be treated to performances by the band, cheer, and dance programs. At halftime the Homecoming Court will also be introduced. Friday night's game begins at 7:00 p.m.

Softball Purple Out Game A Huge Community Success; Raises $1156

The FHHS Softball program held their 3rd annual "Purple Out" game versus FHC at Lindenwood University. The softball program raised $1156 for the great cause. It was amazing to see the overwhelming support of Francis Howell, Francis Howell Central, fans, and the community. The money raised is being used to support the "Purple Out Scholarship," which will be given to a graduating senior who shows strength, leadership, and a passion for what they want to pursue in life. Surplus funds are going Friends of Children With Cancer. FHHS would like to thank FHC for their continued support of this great event as well as Lindenwood University for their use of the field.

Cross Country Competes At Maryville University Six Flags Meet

The cross country program had a very muddy day at the Maryville University Six Flags Meet on Saturday. Overall all levels saw many great performances. You can find the Viking medalists from the meet below. Congratulations to all that competed on Saturday.

Boys Soccer Volunteers For SPENSA

On Saturday the entire boys soccer program continued their involvement with the Special Needs Soccer Association (SPENSA). Our Vikings took to the field to help young people with disabilities to play soccer. The goal of SPENSA is to bring the excitement and fun of playing soccer to players who traditionally have not had a place in the youth soccer system. JV Girls Golf Wins Holt JV Tournament

Congratulations to the JV Girls Golf Team on their performance at the Holt JV Tournament. The Lady Vikings sent two teams to the tournament and both teams finsished 1st and 2nd respectively. You can view the medalist results below.

Football Moves To 4-1 On The Season

Congratulations to the football program on their 38-0 win over FHN on Friday night. The Viking were led on the ground by McGwire Dean and Alex Jones who both had over 100 yards rushing. The Howell defense held FHN to under 100 yards of total offense on the night. You can catch the Vikings in action this Friday at home at 7:00 p.m. versus FZW.

Howell First Responders Night Raises $2000 For Backstoppers

First Responders Night Was a huge success for the second year in a row. This year $2000 was raised during the event. Last week 12th Man Booster Club President Jen Heismeyer presented the Cottleville Fire Department with a check to be given to the Backstoppers for $2000. Thank you to all Howell and FZE fans that participated in the event. In just two years of the First Responders Night event, nearly $4200 has been raised.

Cheer Volunteers At New Melle Field Fest

The Howell Cheer program continues to not only bring school spirit and Viking Pride to FHHS but also to our community. On Saturday, the Cheer program spent the day volunteering at the New Melle Field Fest. Thank you to our Cheer program for being active in the community and sharing the school spirit and passion for Francis Howell!

Viking Leadership Academy Asks Students To "Come With Me"

As the Howell Activities Department continues to develop and enhance leadership at FHHS through the Viking Leadership Academy, students have been actively participating in leadership training twice a month on Wednesday's. The theme for the month of September is "Come With Me." Howell student-participants are being asked to lead others and to ask them to "Come With Me" and to be a person of influence to help influence good in others.

Girls Tennis Working To #RISE Above The Rest

The Howell Activities Department is committed to recognizing those that positively represent our programs by displaying our #RISE core values of Respect, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Excellence. During the fall, those that are involved in a fall activity or sport will have the opportunity to earn a Viking Leadership Academy t-shirt by displaying one of the core values. Coaches and sponsors from each program have been recognizing the student-participants in the programs throughout the fall. At the end of the fall season those that have received a VLA shirt from their program will have the opportunity to attend a fall breakfast in their honor.

Congratulations to those in our girls program that were honored this past week for their efforts in living out the #RISE values of Respect, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Excellence!

DECA Participates In Career Day At Busch Stadium

Last week Francis Howell DECA attended Career Day at Busch Stadium. Howell DECA students had the opportunity to attend a pre-game panel discussion with executives from many copanies that offer careers in sports. Following the discussion, students were able to speak with college representatives. At the conclusion of the career day students were able to attend the Cardinals game.

Volleyball To Host Dig Pink Game On Tuesday

This Tuesday night the Howell Lady Viking Volleyball program will take to the court for a great cause when they square off with Troy. The Lady Vikings will be hosting their Dig Pink game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the effort. Over 330 t-shirts were sold for the game. Join us on Tuesday as the Freshman and JV programs take to the court at 5:00 p.m. and the Varsity program meets up with GAC South Rival Troy at 6:00 p.m.

Softball Recognizes Howell Staff Members

FHHS has more than many talented student-participants. Francis Howell also has a very talented group of teachers and coaches as well. Last week the Howell Softball program teachers for all they do in the classroom at their annual Teacher Appreciation Night. Eventhough the weather did not completely cooperate and the game could not be finished, it was great to see the support and appreciation of our Howell teachers. Thanks again to all of the great teachers at Howell that make our classrooms so great!

Cross Country Program Learning About Nutrition & Healthy Snacks

If you have dropped by a Wednesday afternoon Cross Country practice you may have seen some very healthy and tasty treats being given out. Each Wednesday, the Cross Country program samples nutricious snacks from parents within the program. The effort is to help teach the cross country program about nutrition and encourage them to try healthy snacks to help fuel their workouts. Thank you to our coaches and parents for making this great opportunity possible.

Howell Alums Face Off On The Football Field

Saturday afternoon two former Howell standout football players faced off as San Diego State University took on Northern Illinois. Sutton Smith (N. Illinois) and Calvin Munson (SDSU) are both linebackers for their respective schools. Senior Calvin Munson was making his 30th consecutive start for the Aztecs of San Diego State. Calvin also currently leads SDSU with 34 tackles in the first three games of the season. Sutton Smith is a redshirt freshman for Northern Illinois and has played in 2 games for the Huskies. San Diego State came away with a 42-28 win over Norther Illinois.

Viking Way Celebrates Student Success

This week Viking Way celebrated the success of students by recognizing those at Howell that have an over 3.0 GPA, above 95% attendance, and zero discipline. Over 700 students at FHHS met the criteria for this celebration. Students were treated to breakfast and games to celebrate their hard work in the classroom. Thank you to Viking Way for putting on this great yearly event!
