Blaze Bulletin
Edition 20 Week of February 26
Greetings...
Dear teachers,
Thank you for continuing to work and serve our students, even though it has been hot. My walks around the building have yielded visions of students working - in halls, in outdoor classrooms, in the outdoor cafeteria area, in doorways, and in every possible cool(er) area of the school. Of course, where students are working, teachers are teaching and moving and trying. Thank you for your professionalism. Thank you on behalf of our students, who may not think to thank you now, but one day will understand that what you do every day is an amazing blessing.
Have a great cool long weekend,
lj
BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION...
We will be hosting a Black History Month Celebration on Tuesday, Feb 27th. It will not impact class time, but it will change our schedule just a fraction that day.
We will be on block schedule (this was already on the schedule). However, instead of going back to 4th period after the last lunch, we will end 4th at 12:57. Then students who are going to the program will report to the auditorium. The students who are not going will go to their C&I class to watch the Black History Month Celebration, which will be live-streamed by our AV folks.
How will students get tickets? Each Social Studies teacher will have 30 tickets to give out to 30 interested students who they know will be a respectful audience member. The tickets are red and have a Subway coupon on them.
The program is exciting and will feature many art forms - literature, theatre, choral music, dance, band,etc....
The program will be over by the time C&I ends at 1:53pm.
DOOR DECORATING CONTEST RESULTS....
The winners are:
Best Overall - Hamby and Willette

New state law prohibits phone use in school zones
Parents: New state law prohibits phone use in school zones
Tennessee enacted a new law beginning in January that prohibits the use of cell phones by drivers in school zones. The new law states: "It is an offense to use a hand-held mobile telephone to make or receive a phone call while driving a motor vehicle in a marked school zone." We are sending this information to parents because we realize many of you may not be aware of this new law, which can lead to a citation and fine by law enforcement. READ MORE

"Unite"...
New Vision hosted 1,600 students (12 churches) at an event titled"Unite" this weekend. Many leaders including Mr. Lawless' very own Rebecca were an integral piece in making this happen. I, personally, had 20 of our own students at my home. #teamnosleep
-Thank you Terry Armstrong for making it possible to access all the classrooms at BHS. Each classroom was prayed for by students and desks were cleaned. A bag of candy and a card was left on (hopefully all) teacher desks. Thank you for allowing our students to serve our school.
-A bag of candy was also placed in mailboxes of those who did not have classrooms. They don't all have cards so many of those staff will not know where the candy is from?? 😳 I have extra in my office if anyone was missed.
-10% of Blackman students was in attendance. Many of them are wearing their Black Unite t-shirts today as accountability to each other to be praying for our school. I attached a couple pics so you can visualize..

Reminders
- Due to the vast majority of testing being online this year, the computer labs are in high demand. Here is some important information in regards to them:
- If the labs are blocked out for Admin or testing they are in use, even though they may look empty, due to software installations/updates, etc. that has to be done.
- All computer lab doors should be closed and locked when not in use. There should be no unsupervised students in any computer lab at any time.
- Computer Labs and COWS: Please make sure that you are cleaning up the computer lab after use. This includes putting trash in the trash can, making sure students are logged off, cleaning off whiteboards, plugging in laptops, and plugging in the laptop carts to charge. Remember you find any issues with computers please submit a work order to bhswo@rcschools.net
- Office Printers and Canon Copiers: Please remember to make your copies on the Canon Copier or Riso on not the Lexmark printers.
