Ready to Show Off
This week, we will be preparing for parent conferences. The students will complete self reflections on their progress and learning in math, writing, and reading. We have set goals for the next quarter. The kids will also reflect on their own behavior. Finally, each student will choose an artifact to show parents for each subject. We will be ready to show off on Thursday and next Tuesday!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conferences are coming up next week. They will be held on Oct. 3 and Oct.5. Conferences will be student-led. Make sure that your child is with you for this conference time. If you can not find a time that works for you on the link, please let me know so that we can work out another time. Get ready to be impressed by your little scholar!
Fact Fluency! Sophia and Cooper are playing Knock It Off, to practice addition fact fluency.
Fact Fluency
Studies show that students that demonstrate math fact fluency at an early age go on to have success in math classes throughout their education. Third graders in Noblesville are expected to complete a minimum of 46 out of 50 addition and subtraction problems in 3 minutes. This is an expectation for now and not for the future. The focus will progress to multiplication after Christmas break. Therefore, we have a LOT of work to do. I plan on giving information about ways to practice at parent conferences.
Look What We're Learning!
Math: Fact extensions, fact fluency and addition of multiple digits
Star Time: Fact fluency games, practice and small groups
Writing: Revising, editing, and publishing small moment stories
Reading: Mystery unit: collecting clues and making suspect lists to solve the mystery before the crime solvers do in our novels
Word Work: learning word list routines
Our class had a mystery to solve in the media center on Monday. Hop on Pop turned out to be the culprit! Here we are examining the crime scene.
We had a blast at Conner Prairie learning about our region's past. Thanks to Ms. Dofelmier, Mrs. Hinds, Ms. Hancock, Mr. Keenan, Ms. Paige, and Mr. Hildebrand for volunteering for our trip.
Our class rocked at the Fun Run! Cale and Ceiden tied with 12 laps and Kylee ran 13 laps!
