Mayor Wilda Diaz Cuts Ribbon to the Middle School Campus
Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz, Assembly Woman Yvonne Lopez, Middlesex County Superintendent of Schools, Kyle Anderson, AUL Board of Trustees and other dignitaries gathered in the new home of AUL Charter Middle School (Grades 7th-8th) for a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, April 15, 2019.
The school provides 7,301 square feet of learning and administrative spaces. The campus is equipped with LED lights in each classroom, Fiber Internet connectivity throughout the building, WIFI, central air-conditioning, lockdown emergency notification system, 911 dispatch, medical emergency, shelter in place and state-of-the-art Interactive smartboards. The smartboards feature 4K Ultra HD resolution and an immersive inGlass touchscreen. Delivers incredible collaborative capabilities for the 21st century classrooms. The highly accurate InGlass touch screen provides an incredibly natural handwriting experience and allows multiple users to simultaneously write or draw on the 65” screen with their fingers and styluses. This display provides powerful computing for annotation and multimedia playback without the need for a PC. The rooms are also equipped with an all-in-one desktops that tilts 90° for annotation. Also, every classroom has a Chromebook cart that holds 25-30 devices and the student to device ratio is 1 to 1.
“I’m really excited about this new learning space,” said Chief School Administrator Margaret Rose Morales, EdS..
The gym located on the third level and three additional classrooms will hopefully be completed by the summer; before the 2019-2020 school year. It has exercise bikes, treadmills, etc., utilizing the latest of technology to make physical education/health classes more personal. Our bikes are among the most high-tech available in the country, and there are few school gyms that can boast of these equipment.
Much of our equipment is made to accommodate various needs, with comfortable padding and leg extensions to work with different parts of the body.
As we reopen today, I wanted to keep you informed on some ongoing updates with our construction and renovation at the sites.
At the High School:
-Deep cleaning and floor waxing in main building, convent, and rectory
-Measurement of Windows for replacement
For Barclay:
-All permits and clearances were obtained from the city of Perth Amboy for third floor.
-General demolition and disposal began last week on the third floor at Barclay.
-Fire escape stair repairs occurred on the back stairs.

About US
When the school first opened in 2010, it did not have the books, tables, or classrooms necessary for students to be in an adequate learning environment. Even the principal, at the time, had to serve as a lunch aide. Since then, AUL has developed to help students receive the education they deserve. AUL has expanded by opening two new campuses, expecting to provide the opportunity for students to continue to succeed, with graduation and college admission, as two of its goals.
AUL offers an advanced academic track and AP courses.
AUL Mission: To employ an educational design and experience that merges the highest standards of academic excellence while fostering convictions and commitment to social and economic justice.
