Riley Project
01/24/2018
6 Phases of the Project
Phase 1: Identify the problem of the project
Students determined the problems of the project are the needs of children and their families during this challenging time. Students thought they might get sad because they have to spend so much time at the hospital.
Phase 2: Analyze the Criteria
In committees, students discussed the criteria and if they wanted to do the project. They agreed to accept the criteria and do the project.
Criteria
Project completed by Feb. 23rd
All Pajamas and blankets material must be new
We can not visit Riley due to germs
The Riley Representative will be here on February 23rd for Town Hall Meeting
Phase 3: Brainstorm Multiple Solutions
Students discussed several different solution ideas then went through the Chalk Talk Protocol to make sure the solutions met the criteria. Students also created the Driving Question for the project.
Phase 4: Choose/Modify One Solution
In the project committees students narrowed the solution choices. They wanted to use more than one solution so they combined several ideas into one big solution.
Phase 5: Create and Run the solution
Now, we are here. Tomorrow students will be getting the project checklist. This information has been developed using a combination of student ideas, project needs, and academic standards (of Course). We will be adding everything for the project to this page. Please save the link so you can revisit it if you have any questions. This will be the same process used during all our projects. Everything in one place just for you!!
Phase 6: Reflect back on the Project
Students will reflect back on the project and write a summary for the things that we could have done better, the things we did good, and how we might improve it for next years 2nd graders.
