CMMS Staff,
Below is very important information for your week, thank you for your time and attention reading through the entire weekly email.
A Few Important Items...
Late Arrival Wednesday:
- Para-educators will have a training on behavior management and avoiding power struggles, please be in room 907 by 7:00 AM.
- Teachers this is your PLC planning time, please remember to share your agendas and any significant work products (such as CFAs/analysis sheets/intervention plan/etc). Paul and I will be visiting all PLCs.
- Specialists have job-alike PLC time as well, please make sure you are in attendance in your respective locations.
Emergency Phone Tree:
If you have an emergency and need support ASAP, please pick up your landline and dial x28099. This will dial out and ring ~15 phones (ex. Brit, Paul, Campus Safety, Secretarial Staff, etc.) and one of us will pick up and respond appropriately.
Student-Led Conferences:
Thank you for a great fall conference experience, very well done! If you are hosting any conferences this week please remember to come to the office and highlight student's names as we track that each student has completed their SLCs. I will send out a spreadsheet with students that still need to complete their SLC based on the data we currently have, if their parent/guardian is unable to attend then the student may present to a staff member.
Veterans Day Assembly:
This Friday is our Veterans Assembly, it will be held in the commons. At 8:05 you will be dismissed by grade level, you will be sitting with your 2nd period class. Please have them enter in a single file line quietly, someone will point you in the right direction to seat your class together, starting from the front. Inform the students that this is a serious assembly, no devices/earbuds are allowed and remind students about proper flag etiquette- remain silent during flag presentation and the Pledge. After the assembly is over you will be dismissed by rows, starting with the front. We are doing a short slideshow of only staff military, please send pictures with info to Jen S. jschouvill@bethelsd.org to plug into the slideshow. If you have any questions about this assembly, process, etc. please reach out and ask.

PBIS/Discipline Flowchart
Exclusionary Discipline: State Law and District Policy
State Law:
(2) Other forms of discipline. The teacher or other school personnel must first attempt one or more other forms of discipline to support the student in meeting behavioral expectations, unless the student's presence poses an immediate and continuing danger to other students or school personnel, or an immediate and continuing threat of material and substantial disruption of the educational process. In administering other forms of discipline, the teacher or other school personnel may consider using best practices and strategies included in the state menu for behavior developed under RCW 28A.165.035.
(a) Duration of classroom exclusion. A classroom exclusion may be administered for all or any portion of the balance of the school day in which the student was excluded from the student's classroom or instructional or activity area. When a student is excluded from the student's classroom or instructional or activity area for longer than the balance of the school day, the school district must provide notice and due process for a suspension, expulsion, or emergency expulsion under this chapter.
Bethel SD Policy 3240:
Only certain offenses (deemed “exceptional misconduct”) may result in suspension/expulsion on the first offense (Ex. Alcohol possession/ distribution, fighting, etc.).
