Wade King Elementary
September 17th, 2021
A Note from our Administrative Team
Hello Wade King Families,
Today was our 12th school day and it feels like we're falling into a routine. It feels so good to have all of our students back for full-time in-person learning!
Today's blustery weather was a great reminder to students that we do spend time outside, even when it's rainy. It's time to start bringing coats and warmer clothes to school to be sure your child is comfortable when they are outside. It's also a great time to add their first or last name to the tags inside new coats, sweaters, or sweatshirts so that we know who they belong to if they are lost.
Finally, this newsletter has lots of information about upcoming events, including individual photos that will be taken outside next Tuesday. It's supposed to be a sunny day... and our photographer will have a tent if it isn't. Our Wade King Family Handbook and information to update your student's emergency is also included.
If you have questions, or need support, don't hesitate to let us know. We are here to support you any way we can.

Family Meetings - Sign Up... if you haven't already

Please Update Student Information
Each year, we require families to update annual forms through Skyward Family Access, including information on health concerns, emergency contacts, student privacy, student device checkout, go-home plan for elementary students and more. The state of Washington has updated its race and ethnicity data collection form, and we are asking all families to complete this as part of our annual forms.
Only a few families have updated their student information for this year. If you have not yet done this, please login to Skyward Family Access and look in the left sidebar for “Annual Student Updates 2021-22,” and fill out the annual forms for each child you have enrolled in our district. If you have not used Skyward Family Access in the past, this link will take you to directions.
Please note that it is easier to fill out these forms from a computer rather than a mobile device.
Update Student Information... Directory Coming Soon
Seesaw FAMILY Access
Classroom teachers have turned on family access to their class’s Seesaw account. This means that you can now view your child’s journal, receive updates about what is going on in their classroom, and communicate with the teacher using Seesaw.
All of this can be done using the Seesaw FAMILY app on a mobile device, or by clicking “I’m a family member” at app.seesaw.me in a web browser. If you do not remember your Seesaw FAMILY account password, you can click “Forgot password?” to reset it.
If you need any assistance with this process, feel free to contact our Educational Technology Coach, Hana Anderson at email@example.com.
You might recall that when we were learning remotely, students had access to their Seesaw CLASS student accounts at home. Now that students are learning in person at school, they will only be accessing their Seesaw accounts at school. If this changes at some point in the future, we will notify you and get you the necessary information at that time. For now, your Seesaw FAMILY account is all that your family will need in order to stay in touch with your child’s Seesaw classroom.

Note from Mrs. Wakefield (our School Counselor)
Hello Wade King Families, greetings from Ms. Wakefield in the counseling office. Have you ever wondered what our counseling program offers your student? Look for the informational video about Wade King's Counseling Program, coming to your student's SeeSaw account very soon! You will also be introduced to a new face joining the counseling team this year! Learn more about counseling intern, Ashlee Carstens, in the counseling program informational video. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns, or ways I can support you and your student at 360-647-6840 or my email firstname.lastname@example.org
Universal 'Free' Meals This Year
Since the first menu of the school year was included in the back-to-school mailing, the Food Services program has been impacted severely by national supply chain issues in the food industry. To keep families updated on what will be served, a two-week menu will be maintained on the school menu webpage. We will be unable to provide elementary print menus for the foreseeable future until supply chains are strong again.
Reminder! All breakfast and lunch meals are provided at no cost to families in the 2021-22 school year thanks to a USDA ruling earlier this summer.
Student Dismissal Pick-Up Update
If you have not yet joined our Wade King PTA, we encourage you to! You can join online. This is a great way to show your support for our school community, even if you aren't able to volunteer.
PTA After School Activites... Returning!
Our PTA has been working with our school team and community providers to be able to offer a few OUTSIDE after school programs this fall. Our community providers will follow the same health and safety guidelines we follow during the school day. Although we will not be able to offer as many sessions as we have in the past, in order to keep class sizes small and maintain social distancing... we are thrilled to be able to offer a few!
The After School Activities Calendar will be emailed to families on Thursday, September 23rd. Registration will open the same day!
