Open House - February 24th
On Wednesday, February 24, we will be hosting an open house and book fair for incoming 5th and 6th grade students. Our counselors have been advertising this since we returned from the break and we expect a great turn out. All teachers need to make plans now to attend this event.
In addition, each department and elective will need to have representation at a table in the gym on this day. It is scheduled to last from 4:30 - 6:00. Each group can work out a schedule to provide coverage so that teachers can also be with their teams. I want at least 2 people at every table. We do not need to provide handouts or make any copies. We can direct people to our websites or link them through QR Codes.
This is scheduled as College Day, but we will move this to another date. All teachers should wear their green OW Polo with dark pants, slacks or skirts.
Congrats to Dr. Austin!!!

Rocco's Corner
The fact that we have yet to have an incident is great proof of our school's remarkably good student and staff culture. I am so glad to call this place home now, we must do our best to protect it.

Just a reminder for 5th grade teachers: Please check your STAAR rosters and let Mackenzie know of any changes which need to be made. Mackenzie would like those changes by February 16. The rosters Mackenzie gave you were just for Math. Mackenzie will send Reading as soon as she hears back from you regarding Math! Thank you for your assistance with this process.
We just wanted to let everyone know that we will be hosting Parent Informational Nights mid-February at the individual elementary campuses. Just in case you hear out in the town! This will be a time for parents to hear a brief overview about Oakwood and the classes offered. Then, parents and students can come on Open House Night February 24 to ask you any specific questions related to departments. Additionally, we will visit with 4th grade students during PE early February to discuss lockers, electives, teams, planners, etc. It’s exciting to plan for next year!
Lastly, as for current 5th graders, we will visit with students mid-February regarding elective selection. We are working with Band, Choir, Orchestra to set up a presentation for the students to attend. We will keep you informed with as much information as possible during the next few weeks.
