Salk STRIDE Donation Campaign
We are asking each family to donate a minimum of $20. Donations can include a combination of money received from grandparents, aunts and uncles, family friends, etc. If you can’t collect or give this amount, a donation of any amount would go a long way toward supporting our school. Unlike sales-based/product fundraisers where 10% to 20% of proceeds reach the school, 100% of your tax deductible cash or online donation will go to support Salk Middle School.
The link to donate online is: Salk STRIDE Campaign

You can also find the donation link on the Salk Website Home Page under “Quick Links”.
INCENTIVES: All students whose family makes a donation of $20 will receive a FREE Salk Monkey pencil and if the combined total donation is $40 or greater they will also receive a FREE cookie coupon to be used at lunch. The homeroom or AVID class with the highest amount of funds raised will also receive a pizza party. The top 5 individual students who turn in the most donation dollars will receive a pizza party for them and a friend. We have currently reached our first goal of $4,000 and students will celebrate this goal on Wednesday, October 16 by being allowed to wear headwear of their choice - hats, wigs, durags, bandannas or scarves. And, if we reach our ultimate goal of $10,000 raised, we will have a Double Passing Time Day!! Thank you for supporting Salk Middle School!

- Maintain class size.
- Support student mental health.
- Update curriculum and other classroom materials.
- Improve career and technical programs for students.
If question two passes, the funds would be used across the district to:

Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences
With the impetious of families being able to access their student's academic progress on a continual basis through Campus Portal or Schoology, we have found that some families do not feel a personal need to attend face to face conferences. It is ok if this is true for you! We want to meet your needs and that of your student while keeping the lines of communication open. If you find that your student is doing quite well this first quarter and you don't feel a need to discuss your child's progress in person, please know it is acceptable to not attend the conferences at this time. We encourage all parents/guardians to continue to reach out to teachers via email or phone at anytime during a quarter to seek clarfication or ask questions pertinent to that subject. Teacher emails can be found on our Salk website.
The second fall conferences will be held on November 23 from 12:00 - 4:30, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. This conference is approximately half way through Quarter 2.

Sherburne County Substance Use Prevention Coaltition
This past week the Sherburne County Substance Use Prevention Coalition presented to Salk and VandenBerge parents and educators about drug trends among our youth in our community. Presentation materials from this discussion are attached below.
ISD 728 educators, parents and community members will have the opportunity to hear again from the SUP Coalition at A Community Conversation on Vaping: November 7 at the District Office. See the link below for details about this presentation. It is well worth the time to gain a better understanding of prevention efforts in this area.
