High Reliablity Schools

We have been working to become a High Reliability School. There are five levels in the Marzano High Reliability Schools process.

Level 1 is "Safe and Collaborative Culture." We took a survey in August to measure where we were in the this area. Scores indicate that Hartman is viewed as a safe place. One area for improvement was in the area of "formal ways to provide input." I am happy to announce that we have a new way for staff members to provide input. Please refer to the bottom of this newsletter, "Suggestion Box" for more information.

The next level of Marzano's High Reliability Schools is "Effective Teaching in Every Classroom." We will be looking at that area in the near future.

A Survey for K-5 Teachers

This is an optional survey for teachers in grades K-5:

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk (MCPER) at The University of Texas at Austin are conducting a survey to learn more about teachers’ perspectives on the literacy development of all learners and preferences for professional development. The information gathered will guide development of training modules and classroom resources designed to assist teachers in the transition from state assessments based on modified standards to the general state assessment, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®). More information on this initiative is available at Targeting the 2 Percent.

All educators who work with students in grades kindergarten–5 are invited to complete the short survey.

NEW! Suggestion Box.....Let Your Ideas be Known!

Remember the old-style "Suggestion Box?" Well, I am using a "21st Century" version for collecting suggestions. Please use the following link to make suggestions about the operations of Hartman Elementary. Any suggestion you have is welcome, about any topic related to Hartman.

Please note: This is an anonymous way to make suggestions; however, I will not be able to follow-up with you (for additional information, status of any decision, etc.) unless you provide your name. So, if you want a follow-up, please provide your name in the comment section. If not, then you are welcome to leave your name off of the suggestion.

(This link will be included in all future newsletters, as your input is valued and appreciated!)

Thought for the Week

just not on the same day, or the same way.
