IN-PERSON LEARNING GUIDELINES VIDEO
LISD has created the videos below to give you more details about what families can expect as students return to campuses. Topics include district face coverings guidelines, health and safety protocols, lab-confirmed case notifications, student absences, and more.
CLASS SIZES
We have received some questions about class sizes as we return to campuses, given the number of students that have selected virtual learning for the first 9 weeks of school. We want to clarify that, while there may be a smaller number of students learning in-person, there are also fewer in-person learning teachers to accommodate the need for virtual learning teachers. Consequently, in-person class sizes are expected to be about the same size as usual. With that said, every classroom in LISD will be supplied with at least 10-12 desk shields and desks will be spaced out as much as possible.
LEARNING PATHWAY CHANGES
As a reminder, families will have the opportunity to change their learning pathway (in-person, virtual or virtual plus) choices at the end of every 9-week grading period throughout the school year. Requests for changes should be submitted to your campus any time before the 7-week mark in the 9-week grading period. The first 9-week grading period ends on Oct. 16, therefore change requests must be made any time prior to Oct. 2. Families will soon be provided a form to submit their change requests. Learning path changes will go into effect at the beginning of the next 9 weeks.
Thursday, September 3rd, all learning will be asynchronous. Teachers and staff will be engaged in COVID safety / procedural training sessions throughout the day on campus and will therefore not be able to host live WebEx sessions on 9/3. They will, however, have asynchronous assignments and/or pre-recorded lessons that will need to be completed by students in order to be counted present. Our teachers will communicate this to their students, but we also wanted to make sure parents were aware. Thursday will be a very important day for our staff as they learn how to implement all safety procedures for in-person learning which begins September 8th.
Next week, we will begin sending out short informational videos to give our students and families the necessary information needed to attend school beginning on September 8th. Topics will include: ○ Virtual Plus entry and exit points ○ beginning and ending of school day procedures ○ breakfast and lunch procedures ○ student mask & ID information ○ one-way & two-way hallway information ○ classroom procedures

We are so excited to have you all back at school.
Getting ready for back to school also means updating immunizations. The Texas Department of State Health Services is requiring all students be up to date on required immunizations to prevent the spread of vaccine preventable diseases. Students will NOT be allowed to attend in person or virtual learning as of September 8, 2020 with incomplete records. Please schedule your appointment
