Senior Information ...
Senior Planning Meetings
We would like to thank all the parents/guardians that were able to attend their student's senior meeting over the last few weeks and those coming in the next few weeks. For those of you who were unable to attend, we have been meeting with seniors to discuss their future plans. During these meetings, we provided students with their transcripts and various information on the college search/application process. At the conclusion of these meetings, students left with a folder of information for their senior year. Please be sure to review the material in the folder with your student. Students, please be reminded that you need to return your activity sheet and senior autobiographical record to Mrs. Bills ASAP.

Scholarship Tips
Scholarship season is upon us ... here are some tips to assist you in this process:1.) Start the application process early
2.) Read all the instructions carefully
3.) Make a copy of all application materials for your records
4.) Ask questions if you need help
5.) Pay attention to the deadlines ... give yourself enough time!
Financial Aid Updates ...
Although the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form may not be filed until January 1, 2016, you may apply for a PIN number at any time. Both you and your child need to file for a PIN, as it represents your signature electronically. It has been our experience that filing the FAFSA online is very efficient and user friendly.
If you have a parent PIN number from a previous child, you do not need a PIN; however, your child will need their own individual PIN number.
The website to apply for a PIN number is: www.pin.ed.gov
You can also refer to Corinth High School's website for additional information and links on the web (The Counseling Office can be found under "Support Srvs.") Also on the Student Federal Aid website (https://fafsa.ed.gov/), you will find the FAFSA4caster, which can assist you in obtaining an early estimate of eligibility for federal student aid.
The 2016-2017 CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE is available online and may be completed anytime after October 1, 2015. The PROFILE is required by a small number of selective colleges. Please contact you child's counselor for more information or if you have questions.
Application Essay Tips ...
Many college applications require an essay or personal statement. According to the Sage Colleges:
- Pre-write: brainstorm and organize your thoughts
- Draft: decide what style of essay you want to write
- Edit: read and re-read your essay to check for grammatical or punctuation errors; ask a teacher to proofread your essay to get additional feedback.
