Westwood Community Update

News and Information for Distance Learning - Mid-Oct. 2020

#WildcatPride

Dear Westwood Families,

We Are in this Together Our Wildcats continue to impress us by showing up and doing their best! Thanks to all the caregivers out there who are making it happen, and for partnering with us to continually improve the Distance Learning experience. Some days are better than others, and we acknowledge the effort that everyone is putting in each and every day. Your feedback is valuable, so please continue to let us know what is working well and how we can best support you.

Re-Opening? Who knew that when we announced the closing of our campuses on Friday, March 13th, that we would still be closed as we approach the end of October?! Although we don't have a re-opening date yet, there are many things happening behind-the-scenes in preparation for the eventual return of our students to campus. We are eager to see students at school again, however, we need to ensure that our facilities and our staff members are sufficiently prepared to safely receive them. I encourage you to keep up with the Superintendent's weekly newsletters and try to attend the School Board Meetings (or watch the recordings) to get first-hand information from Dr. Clark on our reopening plans.

Parent-Teacher Conferences These coming weeks (10/19-30), teachers will be meeting with caregivers during scheduled conferences to discuss students' progress. Please be sure to check in with your student's teacher if you have not yet set up an appointment. In order to accommodate the conference schedule, you may see a slight reduction (no more than 30 minutes) of 'live' teaching time or other adjustments to the regular daily/weekly schedule. Any changes will be communicated by the teacher, so please be sure to check emails, Google Classroom, etc. for details. These meetings are an opportunity to celebrate your child's strengths, discuss her/his challenges, and boost his/her success as we approach the end of trimester on November 6th. Refer to the following link for tips for a successful conference (English, Espanol)

Stay well and be safe,
