A Note from Ms. Moulton

Greetings, Hosmer Families!

We have had a wonderful first week of school! Students and teachers returned ready to learn and to teach! Just this morning I was talking to a student about one particular teacher and he said, "She's a great teacher. Well, actually all of the teachers at Hosmer are great." This is truly a special place.

Included in this newsletter is important information regarding the I-Ready assessment, which is currently being administered in grades 1-5. I hope you will take a moment to read the attached letter about it.

Please also note the upcoming events, including this week's PTO meeting on Tuesday and the Welcome Picnic on Wednesday. I hope to see many of you there!

Getting Ready for I-Ready

Students in grades 1-5 are beginning their first round of I-Ready testing. This provides incredibly valuable information that our teaching teams will use to enhance curriculum and instruction and to develop meaningful interventions. Please read the attached letter to learn more!

Drop and Go Zone

Every morning from 8:05 - 8:15 staff are at the Drop and Go Zone on Concord Rd to assist children in getting out of cars. This area is marked with white lines on the school side of Concord Rd from the corner to just past the gate to the playground. If you choose to use this option, please remember:

  • Pull all the way to the front of the zone marked with white lines.
  • Remain in your car. Staff will help children out of the car.
  • When pulling out, please wait for the car in front of you to pull out.

If you do not choose to use this option, please do not park your car in the Drop and Go Zone.

No Dogs on Campus (except the Hosmer Husky, of course!)

Many of us are dog lovers but dogs are not allowed on school property per Watertown Town Ordinance (Watertown Animal Control Ordinance 91.16). Please see the attached document. Responsible Dog Ownership Brochure The restrictions around where dogs may or may not be permitted can be found on the second page of the document. We enjoy our furry friends and appreciate your cooperation in keeping them safe and abiding by these town regulations.
