For all things Teaching, Learning and Assessment
Issue 5
We are working hard to move college CPD to a 'done with' culture, rather than a 'done to' and welcome ideas for developing this. Below are a whole host of initiatives that have been established to provide you with lots of opportunity for development. Take part today!

Have you ever wanted to ask a question about a situation or topic and not known who to ask?
Well now you do, come along and have a coffee and a piece of cake and talk to the experts we have in the college.
We are running a series of ‘Ask the Expert’ sessions covering the following subjects:
- Safeguarding
- Behaviour Management
- Vulnerable learners
- Managing Mental Health
- Teaching & Learning
These will be very informal drop in sessions when you can pop in for a few minutes or stay for a longer conversation, it’s entirely up to you.
These sessions will run every term and the next ones are:
- Tuesday 24th February 2015, room Y202 @ Beeston, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm
- Wednesday 25th February 2015, room 103 @ Maid Marian Way, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm
- Thursday 26th February 2015, room C122 @ Clifton, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm
The Central College Nottingham Sharing Best Practice Initiative
Teaching and Learning Induction
Spring Session (Wed 4th March at Ruddington Campus from 9.30am to 4.30pm).
This is a mandatory training day for all new teaching staff which seeks to deliver a number of essentials in one day. Team members from the Equality and Diversity team , the Teaching Learning and Assessment team and Training and Learning Technologies are all involved in taking new staff through such areas as Interact and the support that the Learning Technologies team can offer, PDCentral essentials, Equality and Diversity in the classroom, and Teaching and Learning essentials. It is also a great opportunity for new staff to meet other new teachers in the organisation and to start to build support systems for themselves, either through networking or through the number of options discussed with them during the training (such as our Buddy System, our Observe and Reflect to Improve software, our regular PDCentral forums or our coaching and mentoring opportunities).
TLA Webinars
The Webinars will be available on the following dates:
- Thursday 12th March 4.30pm
- Friday 1st May 1.30pm
- Monday 11th May 4.30pm
The Webinars will be delivered by Ofsted Inspector Sean Errington and the events are now available on the Training and Learning Technologies online booking system.
