Maroon Mingle
Our next game is one of the most crowded games all season --- the Austin High vs Westlake game at House Park. The stands on both sides are generally full. Please allow for plenty of time to park, especially if you go directly to the game. Most of the AHS kids will be wearing camo. Beat Westlake!!
What: Maroon Mingle, the band parent pre-game social gathering.

When: 6pm Friday September 20, before the Austin High - Westlake game at 7:30pm.
FYI: We will grab a large table, please come early if you want to join us, the restaurant will fill up fast.

Booster News
Now on to additional volunteer needs and information. Here is a high-level rundown of the various needs the boosters have. Listed in the order they occur throughout the school year, some positions won't start until Spring. This list does not include all of the events and activities that take place, but it will get us started.
Remember, these positions will have numerous volunteers and Board members to help and support them.
Incoming freshmen and Summer uniforms (TWO people)
-Collect info from 8th grade students during movement camp in May
-Prepare orders for Under Armour "A" shirts and Summer polos
-Size summer shorts and marching shoes and input orders
-Distribute uniform items in August
Spirit Gear (TWO people)
-Work with vendor to maintain current list of items
-Organize and manage spirit gear sales
-Distribute spirit gear upon receipt following sales
Spirit Nights (TWO people)
-Connect with local restaurants and schedule "spirit night" events to raise funds for Boosters
-Publicize events and attend them
-Assist Secretary with personalized thank you notes
Store Guru (ONE person)
-Manage the store portion of the website: upload descriptions and photos, set pricing and purchase parameters, run reports for treasurers
Webmaster (ONE person)
-Maintain the Boosters website, including regular updates of content and imagery
-Ensure the store functionality, working closely with the Store Guru
ACL Festival Parking (TWO people)
-Update press release and poster, order additional signs if needed
-Distribute info to various media outlets
-Provide info and content to Webmaster/Store Guru for advance sales
-Recruit volunteers to work the event
-Along with Board members, manage volunteers and funds collected day of event
Letter Jacket Ceremony (TWO people)
-Arrange catering for event (box meal)
-Arrange for photographer and schedule group photos
-Contact family members of jacket recipients to invite them
-Provide info and content regarding ticket sales to Webmaster/Store Guru
-Manage event day of
UIL Hosting (TWO people)
-Support and assist the President Elect, who manages this event
-Recruit volunteers to staff the event
-Contact Burger Center staff in advance to determine needs, changes, etc.
-Communicate with volunteers in advance of event to be sure they understand duties and procedures
-Prepare written materials such as maps, schedules, and contact lists for volunteers
-Provide food and drinks for volunteers at check-in
-Arrive early to set up home base, check in with Burger staff, and support key team members during set-up
-During the event, function as a "floater" and assist however needed
Corporate Connectors (TWO people)
-Support and assist President in developing corporate sponsors and selling sponsor ads
-Help with correspondence
-Help ensure accuracy of printed and published materials
-Maintain database
Printmaster (ONE person...with connections!)
-Provide in-kind or reduced price printing services for black and white concert programs and for two full-color bound programs featuring students and sponsors.
BAND Fundraisers (TWO people)
-Organize and manage trailer name sales and graphics update annually
-Organize and manage two other BAND fundraisers annually

UPDATE: We would like to thank everyone for your quick generous response to the request for funding the purchase of a new portable generator this week! To date, we have received a little over $600 in just 48 hours. We still need about $350 to hit our goal for this item. That's just $10 from 35 people!

Band News - Fair Share Fees
As a reminder, fair share fees are usually paid in four monthly installments of $110 (in August, September, October and November) or one discounted payment of $400 due by the end of September. You may pay with a credit card through www.schoolcashonline.com or send a check to the band office payable to "Austin High School Band". If paying by check, please include your students name in the MEMO line.
This is a very busy time when the band has many of its expenses and its essential to stay on schedule with your fair share payments. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Frock.
