#GoTime
Kindness Week and AdvancED week have arrived and GMAS is on deck. We have been prepping and preparing to show off our amazing scholars and schoolhouse! Of course, everyday we are ELITE for our scholars and community!
#KidsDeserveIt
- SMILE! Be Happy! #BeELITEInYour20SquareFeet! Be intentional! You set the tone for your day by radiating positive energy and body language! Relationships trump EVERYTHING else. Scholars don't learn from people they don't like! You can have ELITE level expectations and still build relationships that impact!
- Summer Experience Planning has started! All teachers: Please to complete a YES or NO form as to your interest in teaching this summer! There are opportunities to teach for a week if you are a specialty area: think PLTW. We need 10 educators! This is great opportunities for additional money and additional relationship building! The form is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe62m3jXPrLe9nmaxOc1yqJLPIrUvnn-nTxPyDJTk7495XNyA/viewform?usp=sf_link
- Hallway Bulletin Boards: Please make sure they are current and not empty.
- All Lesson Designs need to be turned into the book for feedback. Thank you for turning in your plans. Please review your learning targets. Is there a KNOW and a DO? What do your OPENINGS (HOOKS) look like? What are you doing with your formative assessment data?
- ALL CLASSROOMS: need the standard and learning target posted on your boards.
- Dress Code: Please make sure all attire is professional, even on jeans days.
- BREAK continues on Thursdays.
- Please take time to review your TKES in the platform. Next rounds are beginning. Several folks have areas, not green checked. Please take a look. TEACHERS: please make sure you have checked off on your mid-year plans!

#SoManyBooksFind Your Yellow Tux by Jesse Cole
My obsession with Jesse Cole started when I moved to Savannah. Not being from here, I thought the Savannah Bananas was a PERFECT name! I was just in love with everything he was. I had heard him speak one time in connection with SSU and when his book was published, I just knew I needed to get a copy. He is a guy who understands why standing out works and why you should never be afraid to try innovative and outrageous things!
He has been on my mind a lot the last few months, wondering if he would consider an invitation to our school. Last Saturday I sat down and emailed him and told him everything about our school, our scholars, our educators, our community. He emailed me back in less than 30 minutes and told me he would call me on Monday. We were able to work it out and I am so excited for Friday!
The goal for Friday is to get our scholars (and our adults too!) to understand standing out in a noisy world works and we want our scholars to be free to be themselves! We want to inspire them to have the confidence it takes to WIN at life-- and to #GoBananasOnGMAS!
He begins his book by asking this:
"If you were to die today, would you be happy with the life you lived and the legacy you left? This question changed my life. It inspired me to evaluate my life based on fulfillment."
Understanding the buckets and how to WIN at GAPS is our focus! Targets are set!
