Scheduling Information for 2021-2022

Believe it or not, scheduling for the 2021-2022 school year has started! We encourage all parents/guardians to have a conversation with their student(s) to discuss their future and what courses will help them accomplish their goals. To help you with that process, we have a variety of resources available. To access the video that was shown to students in preparation for scheduling, please click here. For more information on the courses offered at BWHS, you can access the BWHS Program of Studies. Students were given a packet with information on graduation requirements and a listing of offered courses. If you have any questions, please feel free to see the scheduling tab on the School Counseling website, or contact the School Counseling office.

Buckeye Boys and Buckeye Girls State Now Accepting Applications

Attention Families of Juniors:
Every summer, the American Legion sponsors Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State for high school juniors. These week-long events are designed as a mock government simulation for students who are interested in politics, government, current events, etc. Selected students will spend a week on a college campus (at no cost to you) and participate in a simulation to see how government and politics work at a first-hand level. This experience would look great on college applications and resumes. If you think you might be interested, or just want more information, please see the links below. The application deadline is February 4, 2021.

Buckeye Boys State will be held at Miami University from Sunday, June 13, 2021, to Sunday afternoon, June 20, 2021. Click here to learn more.

Buckeye Girls State will be held at Mount Union from Sunday, June 13, 2021 to Saturday afternoon, June 19, 2021. Click here to learn more.

Categories: Grades 6-8, Grades 9-12 and Undergraduate.

Deadline: Feb. 1, 2021

Parent Resource

Parenting a teen in today's world is no easy task, so we want to share resources with you when we find them. This link contains several videos about situational awareness for you and your teen to watch and discuss together.

"Teens and University students are at higher risk for a violent encounter. One of the greatest assets you can have to leading a healthy and happy life is knowing how to protect yourself so you can live the life of your dreams." (from prettyloaded.org)

ACT Given on February 23

The state mandated ACT test will be given to all juniors on 2/23. We will give the test at BWHS this year for the first time in many years and only juniors will attend school that day. This is largely due to the safety protocols in place this year due to COVID at both BWHS and our usual testing locations. More information will be coming, but we wanted this date to be on your calendar.

FFA News

Last week, five of our agricultural science students participated in the state Agricultural Biotechnology Career Development Event. Nearly 250 students from more than 25 schools across Ohio participated. The results are in, and we are happy to share that our team has placed first at the state level!
