Math PLCs

We will meet this Thursday for Math PLCs. Don't forget to bring your student work samples and assessment data to discuss. If you have artifacts or student work from your fractions unit, please bring a copy for us to add to our anchor chart. Don't forget your laptop!

Dr. Seuss Day

We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss Day on Friday, March 1. Students and staff may dress up as their favorite Seuss character.

This will be a HOUSE BUDDY Day so please get with your house about plans. Email Mrs. Helton ASAP if you need any materials. There are lots of great things you can use in the Makerspace-you just have to ask.

From Your Captain

We will be having a Family Spaghetti Lunch on Friday, March 8. Like our Thanksgiving lunch, families will be invited to have lunch with their students on that Friday before Spring Break. We are hoping that this event will help to increase attendance for the morning. We will follow a schedule similar to the one for Thanksgiving. If you would like to make spring-themed decorations, we would love to have them! Please spread the word to your families!

Thank you for all your hard work to make Seas the Night a great success. We had a good turnout, especially for such a cold rainy evening, and our families were enjoying themselves very much. Special thanks to Ms. Broughton for organizing our music program.

We will be using the lab for the next month as we do Interim, TELPAS, and STAAR practice testing. We appreciate your flexibility.

504 & RtI

4th and 5th grade teachers need to anticipate annual 504 meetings during the week of March 4th and week of March 19th. STAAR accommodations will be finalized through 504 with Mrs. Maynard.

Mrs. Helton will be finalizing STAAR accommodations (Gr 4 Writing & Gr 5 Math/Reading) for RtI students by Friday, March 8. You will receive an email before then to verify.

Conscious Discipline

Please reinforce our MOST IMPORTANT SCHOOL AGREEMENT: Be Safe! My job it to keep you safe and your job is to keep the school safe.

CLASSROOM SPOTLIGHT

Ms. Rawles' organized her students into 2 cooperative teams for science review. She posed STAAR-type questions and students had to work in teams to solve. The teams then got to shoot basketballs to earn points. What a great use of collaboration and communication in the classroom!

RESOURCE OF THE WEEK

Coping Skills Toolkit

As a Conscious Discipline campus, we are committed to having a Safe Place in every classroom. Use the attached document for ideas on how to make your Safe Place a more effective area for students to cope with their "big" emotions.

March Makerspace

Check out this FUN Makerspace challenge for March. Students will be able to apply different science skills as they create a new "uni-animal" based on "Not Quite Narwhal" by Jesse Sima. Email Mrs. Helton to check out the cart.
