PTA Mom and Son Night Out

Please join us for PTA's Mom and Son's NIght out at Paradise Park at 45799 Grand River Avenue in Novi. The event will take place on Thursday, May 12 from 6:00-8:00 PM and the cost will be $19 per person.

Includes: 2 hour wristband for unlimited trampoline, rock climbing wall, laser tag,

and mini golf; 10 tokens; 2 slices of pizza; Beverage

Thank you Dublin Community!

We would like to thank everyone for another successful spare change drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With our Friday collection days and the volleyball game, we collected a total of $3,702.98. We also collected over $1300.00 from our staff volleyball event in April.

The class that raised the most money is Mrs. Hopkin's fourth graders with a total of $403.97. The class will be receiving a pasta party from Olive Garden. For raising $250 or more, the following classes won a pizza party: Mrs. Brooks, Mrs. McKendry, and Ms. Mitchell.

Thank you to our Dublin community for your efforts and for helping others.

Dublin Field Day 2016

Our Dublin Field Day will take place on Friday, May 20th. K-2 students will have their events in the morning from 9:10-11:20 AM. 3-5th grade students will have their events from 1:30-3:30 PM. The PTA will preparing lunch for everyone that day and we will have our regular lunch hour at school.

We are in need of parent volunteers for the morning and the afternoon game events. If you can help, please click HERE to sign up.

Dublin 2016-17 Planning Form

It is hard to believe planning and preparation for the 2016-17 school year is happening. Please click HERE to print and complete our Dublin Planning Form if you WILL NOT be attending Dublin next year. This does not include students moving to middle school. The information you provide assists us in determining class sizes and the number of classrooms per grade level. Please complete this form as soon as possible and return it to us in our school office. Thank you for your help with this important task.

Principal Survey for Parents

Project ACES

We will again practice ACES (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) on the playground on Wednesday, May 4th. All Dublin students and staff will go out onto the playground and do stretching and light exercises and finish with a walk around the playground let by our fifth graders, Mr. Hohlbein, and Mr. Drewno. This fun event will only last about 15-20 minutes and will happen around 10:00 AM.

Girls on the Run Community Service Project

The Dublin Girls on the Run will help an organization called Handbags of Hope as a community service project.

The group will be collecting items at school starting Monday, May 9th through May 13th. Donations can be dropped off at our preschool room.

The girls will be collecting items for young women that don't have homes and need these items so they can go on interviews for jobs.

The items we will be collecting are:

  • Gently used handbags
  • Gently used wallets
  • Travel Size and NEW: brushes, shampoo, nail kits, body wash, note pads, lip balm, lotion and compact mirrors.

Many people have these items in their houses from hotels and such.

Or could be purchased at the dollar store

Kindergarten Activity Hour

We will be welcoming our new kindergarten students for the 16-17 school year with two Kindergarten Activity Hours on May 24th and May 26th. On May 24th the activity hour will take place from 9:45-11:15 AM. On May 26th, the activity hour will take place from 1:00-2:30 PM.

For both events, students will spend the first half hour on a bus ride, followed by an hour working with our kindergarten teachers. Parents will be invited to meet with Mr. Drewno for questions and to complete important paperwork for school. We look forward to seeing our new kindergarten students very soon!

M-Step Information

Students all over Michigan, including Dublin students, have begun the process of completing the state assessment M-Step. M-STEP is the acronym for Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress.

The M-Step is an online, computer based assessment. If you would like see the practice items or help your child practice with the online tools, you may do so through the Michigan Department of Education site: https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi/ott1. Please note that this site must be viewed using Google Chrome as your browser.

A schedule of the state assessment windows is included below so that you can plan for any absences due to appointments or other things that may not be able to be done outside of the school day.

Third Grade Testing Dates:

Fourth Grade Testing Dates:

(Language Arts, Math, Science)

May 9-May 27

Fifth Grade Testing Dates:

(Language Arts, Math, Social Studies)

April 11-April 29

Please share with your child the importance of these assessments as they are an indicator of your child’s progress within the Michigan Standards and assist us in knowing the progress of our student body at Dublin Elementary. It is extremely important that children get an adequate amount of sleep and eat a nutritional breakfast. These two factors will help students be better prepared to take the test. We are also suggesting that third, fourth and fifth grade students bring a water bottle as well as a nutritional snack to school on the days of the M-STEP test.

Students need to stay in school all day on the dates listed. Please make

every effort to have your child arrive to school on time during the M-STEP test.

Meet Up and Eat Up!

Walled Lake's Food Service Department presents its Meet Up to Eat Up Program this summer! The program starts on June 20th. We will be serving Breakfast at 8:15AM and Lunch from 11:00AM – 1:15PM. We will be operating Monday through Friday. We aren’t open on July 4th and our last day of the program is August 19th.

This program is available to all kids from the age of 1-18 years of age regardless of income (the do not have to be one of our students). Adult meal price will be $2.00.

This program will run at the Community Education Building in the lunchroom.

Incoming kindergartners must be five-years-old on or before September 1, 2016.
Exception: According to Michigan Law, a child may be enrolled in kindergarten
if he/she is not five years of age on September 1, 2016 but will be five years of
age not later than December 1, 2016 and parent or legal guardian notifies the school
district in writing (Kindergarten Waiver Form) that he or she intends to enroll the
child in kindergarten.

Research indicates that developmentally appropriate full-day schedules benefit kindergarten children academically, socially and emotionally. Our principals and teachers understand this and are well equipped to meet the needs of our kindergarten students.

Our kindergarten students begin to learn a whole host of reading, writing and mathematics concepts and learning strategies that give them the foundation for a successful elementary school career in Walled Lake Schools.
