A Word from Your Friendly Neighborhood Principal. . .
Parents,
Thank you to everyone who helped to make last Friday's Trunk or Treat a huge success!
Quarter 2 is well on its way! As I visit classrooms for observations and visits I am always so impressed by how professional and dedicated our teachers are as they engage and empower your children to learn! I LOVE when our teachers have students "turn and talk" in order to process what they are learning and share ideas with a classmate. Not only do they practice rephrasing what they are learning, they also practice active listening skills that will serve them later in life. I also want to shine a spotlight on Mr. Muldowney's 5th grade class and congratulate them on their first hydroponic lettuce harvest. The children were excited to share what they have learned through the process of raising the lettuce from seed with the parents who were able to visit.
Round Hill ES is proud to congratulate Mrs. Megan Lubin and her husband on the birth of a daughter! Mrs. Lubin is one of our resource teachers. Mother and daughter are both doing well!
We hope to see you for our Veteran's Day Program next Friday!
Sincerely,
Andrew Davis - Principal
Congratulations to Round Hill Golden Bears for the month of October!
Each month, a student from every classroom is nominated to receive this award. All students chosen for this award model our 3 R’s at Round Hill Elementary - they are Respectful, Responsible and Ready to learn each and every day!
To celebrate our Round Hill Golden Bears, each student nominated is announced on our Morning News Show the first Wednesday of each month. In addition, they will receive a certificate that includes the reasons why their teacher chose them for this award along with a golden bear paw charm.
Please join me in Congratulating Our OCTOBER Round Hill Golden Bears!

Thanksgiving Food and Dinner Kit Drive Extended through Monday 11/7
Because so many of you donate Thanksgiving dinners each year, I wanted to let you know we are collecting full dinner kits as well as individual donations this year. Our goal is 30 dinner kits, either collected in full or assembled from individually donated items. These kits will be distributed to Round Hill families in need of Thanksgiving assistance. Individually donated items will be shared with RHUMC Food Pantry and Loudoun Hunger Relief.
If you would like to donate a full dinner kit, flyer is attached listing the items to put in a reusable grocery bag. We will be collecting through November 7. Thank you for your help in supporting all of our families. -Joey Fuller, Parent Liaison (joanne.fuller@lcps.org)
Veterans Day Program - Friday, November 11 at 8:30 am - Last Call for Photos!!
Round Hill ES is pleased to present a live Veterans Day program the morning of Friday November 11, 2022. It has been three years since we have been able to present a live program, and we are excited!
We ask for your help in contributing photos of family members who are veterans of the US Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Space Force). We ask that each family:
- Contribute ONE photo of a family member veteran. If there are multiple veterans in your family, please limit yourself to ONE photo per person. It would be great if the photo shows the veteran in uniform, but it is not a requirement!
- Please include the first and last name of the veteran and the relation to your student(s) in the photo name (ex. JOHN JONES grandfather of Samantha Jones)
- Please upload the photos to the RHL Veterans Day Photos folder.
- Please upload all photos no later than Monday, Nov 7, 2022 to ensure that we have time to include the photographs in the photo montage.
For security reasons, please do NOT send photos of anyone who is currently serving in the US Armed Forces. Please email leonard.baber@lcps.org with any questions you may have.

Second Stop Bully Prevention Home Links
Over the past two weeks, our School Counselors, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Blair, have been teaching about how to recognize bullying behaviors. We define bullying behaviors as one-sided, repetitive, mean on purpose behaviors that take away one’s power. Please click on the corresponding grade level to learn more about the lesson that was taught.
The Imagination Library - Free books each month for children 5 and under!!
Round Hill Bears,
Have you ever heard of The Imagination Library?
This non-profit program started by Dolly Parton in 1995 has gifted over 161 million books, been recognized by The Library of Congress, and has brought immeasurable joy to recipients, providing high quality, curated books monthly to all children regardless of socioeconomic status from birth to age 5. A local chapter, Roots Grow Wings, was recently started, and now serves all of Western Loudoun! All children 5 and under can enroll now. When you enroll your children or grandchildren, you will receive a free, age appropriate, book for each child enrolled every month until the age of 5. It’s such an amazing program, and it may sound too good to be true, but I promise it’s not. There is no fine print, just sign them up.
Currently we have enrolled over 600 children from birth to age 5 and have gifted over 7000 books since we launched in April 2021! We would love to see that number continue to grow!
