Principal's Message
Good afternoon CHS students and families,
The club fair is still happening for one more day here at CHS! This is a great opportunity for students to check out the many activities where they can get involved. It is proven that engagement in school is a key to student success. We would like every student to find an extra or co-curricular activity that suits them. Students, please check out the tables in the new Commons tomorrow, Friday, 9/22.
Next week is Homecoming Week. We are excited for Hall Decorating, Assemblies, the Parade, the Game, and the Dance. CHS school spirit will be out in full force as the theme this year is “Canby Classy.” It’s a Blue & Gold Explosion! There are dress up days for students as well. We hope all students have a safe and fun Homecoming Week, and of course, we welcome the community to the Football Game Friday night. We would love to see everyone come out and support our students.
Additionally, this month is National Hispanic Heritage Month which is a month-long (September 15th - October 15th) observance in the US in celebration of the cultures, contributions, and lives of people with Hispanic and Latin American heritage. The CHS M.E.Ch.A Club. will be hosting events at Canby High School to celebrate staff and students including a backdrop workshop and a pinata.
With all of these events and more, it is a fun and exciting time of year at CHS. We hope that your student enjoys this vibrant season.
Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Oliver Insurance Athlete of the week
Week of 9/18/23 Boy's Soccer Ergar Ojeda, Girl's Soccer Sadie Schweitzer
This past week in varsity sports, football beat Beaverton 42-7, boys soccer tied West Salem 0-0, girls soccer tied Sprague 1-1, and volleyball lost to Centennial 1-3.
Our Cougar CHAMPIONS for the week are Tyler Konold, Kenzie Bigej, Rhett Smith, Ayden Lawless, Landon Stegmeier, and Hailey Duncan.
Tyler Konold: Tyler is a CHAMPION for our football team. He has a fantastic start to the season. After just 3 weeks he has accumulated 443 rushing yards, 5 touchdowns, and 1 pick 6.
Mackenzie Bigej: Kenzie is a great example of a Cougar Champion. Kenzie is a great student, a great athlete, and a great person. Kenzie is a varsity soccer player and the top runner on our girls cross country team. After a very successful track season last spring Kenzie will be competing for a state title in cross country.
Rhett Smith - Rhett is a CHAMPION on the cross country team. He is one of the team’s senior leaders. Rhett sets an excellent example with his positive attitude and great work habits.
Ayden Lawless - Ayden is a CHAMPION on the boys soccer team. Ayden earned man of the match against West Salem this past Tuesday. He recorded a shutout and over 10 saves in the game helping to earn a Tie on the road.
Landon Stegmeier - Landon is a CHAMPION on the freshman football team. Not only is he a starter who has earned his positions on offense (receiver or QB depending on our needs) and defense (Free Safety), he is also a model student. Landon is a respectful, coachable, industrious, and courteous young man.
Hailey Duncan - Hailey is an example of a CHAMPION because she displays great character on and off the court. On the court, she is a leader and someone who consistently shows up to games and practice to be better. She leads by example of her hard work and by encouraging others to be their best each and every day. She also works hard off the court in school and displays great character to everyone she comes in contact with. As her coach, I can always count on her to perform and have a great attitude. She is a champion of Canby High School and represents the volleyball program.
