Leadership Survey Sharing
I have received many questions from principals about how to share the campus leadership survey information. While the survey is intended to provide insight to your administrative team about staff perceptions, it may be useful to share some of those insights with your entire staff. The most important thing for you to do is to communicate to staff that you appreciate their feedback and that you will use it to improve systems, procedures, and practices. While I know some of the feedback may be uncomfortable to digest, it’s essential to keep the lines of communication open and maintain trust.
Methods for sharing the information may include:
Review the quantitative data in a staff meeting (in PowerPoint or poster format) and solicit feedback to improve areas of need
Share highlights with staff (i.e. trends, top 5/lowest 5, etc.) and solicit feedback to improve areas of need
Analyze the data with your campus leadership team and incorporate next steps in your CNA/CIP, if applicable
Review the data with your assistant principal, since it is a leadership survey, and share next steps or action items with staff
Most campuses are choosing not to widely distribute copies of the data in order to keep it relatively confidential
We discourage dissemination of the qualitative data, the comments, simply because they are more personal in nature and when they stand alone do not represent the overall staff
Summer Bond Work
Principals must consult with site superintendent and project manager regarding bond work that falls within the scope of the project, all other requests should be submitted to Area Directors.
Texas Honor Roll Schools
I am excited to share that seven schools in our district were identified as Texas Honor Roll Schools by by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE). The 2017-2018 Honor Roll recognizes public schools that demonstrate consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps. Congratulations to Beaver MST, Watson MST, Hillside Academy, Kimberlin Academy, Walnut Glen Academy, Sewell, and Cooper.
18-19 Assessments
There was some confusion during yesterday’s lunch presentation regarding assessments for the next school year. I hope the information below provides some clarity, but please be assured more details will be shared in the near future to assist you in your campus planning.
