What does ethics mean? What does it mean to be ethical?

  • Ethics are what society deems good or bad.
  • To be ethical means to deal with standards to behaviors to the way we live our life.

Who and What shapes the ethics of an individual and/or society?

Who:

  • The type of people who shape an individual's ethics are their parents, friends, associates, life or experiences that has occurred.

What:

  • The things you do and say and the way you act is what shapes and individuals ethics.


Ethics Are Based On..

Do YOU know what point a person should question the ethical beliefs of an individual and/or an institution?

Answer:

The point that a person should question ethical beliefs is when they are starting to go down the wrong road, or when they are starting to get in severe trouble with the law, parent or life situations.

What historical event or society can be used to exemplify your ideas?

  • The historical event that can be used exemplify my ideas is the Rape of Nanking in the year of 1937-1945.

Genocide in the 20th & 21st centuries: Nanjing

When?

The Rape of Nanjing occurred in the year of 1937-1945.

Where?

It happened in Japan during the Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945).

Victims?

The main targets to the were the Chinese citizens (Men, Women and Children).

Perpetrators?

The perpetrators were the Japanese Imperial Army soldiers.

Statistics?

  1. About 300,000 people were killed because of this massacre.
  2. About 20,000 women were raped by the Japanese soldiers during the six weeks.

Results?

As a result of all this WWII was caused.

Did people remain silent? If so, why?

Yes the people remained silent mainly because they had no choice. They were going to die gruesomely either way.


Most shocking fact(s)?

  1. 300,000 Chinese soldiers and civilians were killed.
  2. 20,000 women were raped.

During the rape of Nanjing numerous amounts of Chinese people this include women, men as well as children died brutally. It happened in Japan during the Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945). The main targets to the were the Chinese citizens. The perpetrators were the Japanese Imperial Army soldiers. About 300,000 people were killed because of this massacre. On September 11, 2001 a plane flew into the world trade center into the twin towers. A bomb was also planted on the lower level of the building as well. It was in New York City, and the victims were whoever was in the Twin towers (World trade center) at that time. The perpetrators were Taliban and Al Qaeda. The attacks followed in the deaths of 2,996 people, including the 19 hijackers and 2,977 victims. The victims included 246 on the four planes (no survivors), 2,606 in New York City in the towers and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon. As result the Taliban and Al Qaeda began to be the main blame target. No the people did not remain silent they spoke out. Many People lost their families.
