NAVIGATOR NEWS
Parent Reminder: Students are not permitted to loiter in front of the school, parking lots, park, or bike racks. Also, students are not permitted to leave campus once they have been dropped off. This includes going to the local stores, coffee shop, and homes. Defiance of these safety rules will result in disciplinary action.
Remember to sign up for the PTSA! - Membership is only $7 per person, and it is open to all parents, students and faculty. The money collected directly impacts the events at our school. Please return the blue and white envelope that came with your child's Back to School Packet, or pick up a new one in the front office.
PTSA's Art Contest - All students are eligible to enter. This year's theme is "Let Your Imagination Fly". October 16th is the deadline for artwork (dance/choreography, literature, photography, film production, music composition and visual arts). October 29th is the award program that determines which projects will represent DATA in the Ventura Council PTA competition, which includes all VUSD. For more information, please go to www.pta.org/programs/ArtsinEducation.cfm
PTSA's Art Committee – Encourage your 6th, 7th and 8th grade student to be part of the PTSA Art Committee. Students interested in helping to organize the event should talk to Ms. Erin in the office.
HOTspot (Help Our Teachers) - Parents interested in volunteering to help DATA teachers can click: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F0F44AFAF2AA3FA7-help to sign up to help with specific jobs or for a brief training on how to operate the machines in the office. Teachers will post new jobs regularly to this link. You can sign up for the jobs that most interest you, and for times that work best for your schedule. Some tasks, like cutting and collating, can even be done at home.
Kellogg Park Mulch Event on Saturday, September 26th, 9:00 am - 1:00pm. Parents and students can help spread mulch to get the lot ready for the new park that will be opening on Ventura Avenue. Participating students will receive community service hours. More information is available in the DATA library or on the Facebook event page.

NETBOOK NEWS
6th graders - Cases have arrived. Students will take them home empty for a few nights this week. Computers will be available for check out next week.
Netbook Case Straps – Straps are available in the library, and they make carrying the cases much easier. For the first time ever, students will be allowed to decorate their case straps. (They still have to keep their computer and the rest of their case free of decoration).
