Update from Principal Boyd
January 11, 2023
From Principal Boyd
EJ Families,
We have had a wonderful start to second semester!
A few items I would like to share with you:
Lost and Found
We have lots of items in lost and found that need to be claimed. If your scholar is missing something, PLEASE encourage them to stop by the lost and found to check for their belongings. We are going to donate items to Goodwill at the end of this month. Thank you for your support with this.
Fundraiser for Playground Shades
The Passion Foundation is hosting another fundraiser and we would love your support. A copy of the flyer is below. Proceeds from this event will help Esther Jackson with our School Governance Council Initiative of getting sunshades for our outside playground.
Save the Date
The Harlem Wizards are coming to Centennial High School again this year. The game will be played February 5th. Stay tuned and be on the lookout for more information.
Projections for 2023-2024 School Year
I received our school projections for next year and wanted to share them with you. Our forecasted enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year is 533 students with the following breakdown:
PreK - 2 classes
Kinder - 4 classes
First - 4 classes
Second - 4 classes
Third - 4 classes
Fourth - 3 classes
fifth - 4 classes
Door Alarms
Our exterior doors have been equipped with alarms that sound when the door is opened. This is part of a plan for enhanced security at all Fulton County schools. Doors with the alarm have a stop sign on the interior side of the door to indicate that it is alarmed. Beginning next Tuesday (1/17/23) all of these alarms will be armed 24/7 on exterior doors at EJ with the exception of a few doors used throughout the day.
Parent University - January 12 - This Thursday
We are hosting a Parent University on January 12th. This meeting will cover assessments administered in Fulton County, with a focus on the GA Milestones. Although the Milestones is only taken in grades 3-5, this presentation is for ALL parents in ALL grades. Thank you to those parents who have RSVP'd to attend. If you did not RSVP and are interested in coming, please send me an email. It is important that we know who is coming so that we can plan for dinner and childcare for our scholars. We hope to see you there!
School Governance Council - EJ Tour - January 26th
The Community and Outreach Committee of our School Governance Council (SGC) is hosting a Tour for prospective parents on January 26, 2023. The goal of the tour is to give our community members with children a peek into what Esther Jackson has to offer. We are so proud of our school and would like to share what makes EJ special. If you know any parents who are undecided about where to send their students, please send us their information so that we can personally invite them to our EJ Tour. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
