A Note from Mr. Nakano
"Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible." - Dalai Lama
"Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the single candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared." - Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai
Hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Spring Break! Just wanted to send you a special "dates only" edition, since there are a couple of events happening this week.
Sqord March Madness!
We were in the lead all week and then trailed this morning. As of our last sync this afternoon, we're back in the lead 253,147 to 218,724. Hopefully some last second activity can sustain this lead until the end of the day!
Sierra Vista PARENT ONLY Night
There is a presentation at 5:15 before the main presentation (both are in the MPR) for the G.A.T.E. program. Even if your child has not yet been identified as G.A.T.E. (notification for this school year will occur in mid-June), you are welcome to attend.
Similarly, for those students receiving special services, there is a presentation at 5:15 in the Library.
Additional information can be found here
For Jeffrey Trail families, we have not yet seen information posted yet about a parent night. However, manila envelopes went home today to your student, who immediately put it in their backpacks. They may contain information regarding registration and parent nights.

Panoramic Picture
The 6th graders will be taking a group panoramic picture; a nice commemorative memory of their final year at Canyon View.
Your student is asked to wear their blue "CV 17" t-shirt for the picture. The 17 sweatshirts are not recommended, as the numbers aren’t visible from the front.
If you would like to order pictures please send the pink envelope to school on Thursday, the 13th with your student.

Sierra Vista Middle School Visitation
The students will be visiting Sierra Vista Middle School the Friday we return from Spring Break. They will be treated to musical performances from the award-winning band and orchestra, be introduced to their elective choices, take a tour of the school and do a Q&A with teachers and student leaders.
We are asking that you and your family make arrangements to have your child dropped off at Sierra Vista Middle School at 7:45 on the morning of the field trip.
After the program, we will be walking back to school at 10:00. We encourage you to make carpool arrangements to alleviate parking lot congestion, as well as help out families who are unable to drop their kids off in the morning.
We want to ensure that all students are able to participate so, please let us know if your child is unable to find a ride to Sierra Vista. We will make arrangements so all students can be there.
If you child plans to go to Jeffery Trail Middle school, we still expect them to join us, as they will get a chance to see a middle school experience and ask questions to middle school teachers and student leaders.
