Math Update
Week of February 8th
This Week in Math
This week we will focus on both statistics and graphing. Students will practice finding the mean, median, mode and range using both data sets and stem-and-leaf plots. They'll also complete a project based assessment where they use weather data to construct line graphs and stem-and-leaf plots and then interpret the data.
The 5.6 Fraction Computation test will be given on Wednesday. Students who scored an 80% or higher on the math benchmark test are exempted from this assessment. A sticker will be placed in your child's agenda on Monday indicating if he/she is exempted. Students who are taking the test will practice fraction story problems on both Monday and Tuesday to prepare for the assessment.
Benchmark Conferencing
Individual conferences for benchmark testing began on Friday and will continue this week. Please check your child's agenda for test results. I'll use the results to determine remediation and intervention groups as well as plan practice and extension activities. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, please contact me and we can set up a conference.
