2nd Hand News

October 20-23

Last week was a short one for the students with some rainy indoor days, but we made it. Thank you so much for your support, kinds words, and great exchanges at conferences. Hearing about a student's wider world and interests is always of great help to me, and I'm excited to continue with the foundation we have begun for our kids in 2nd grade. They are all unique and come together to form a wonderful group.

In math, we've arrived at 3 digit plus 3 digit addition, with regrouping to the thousands place on paper and ten thousands place during practice. I'm thrilled with our developing dictionary skills and the enthusiasm for finding and defining "juicy" vocabulary words in our guided reading group. Eureka!

Book Fair was a success. Many thanks to Colby and Glenn and our 2nd grade parents for fostering the love of reading and performing this service for BFS.

Please have children dress properly for the Pumpkin Patch trip on Tuesday. Our hat-picked parents are Colby and Erik. Our Halloween Party is Friday afternoon. I hope to keep the kids' excitement to a dull roar leading up to the big day with our parade and festivities. I can't wait to see the costumes!

With a smile,

Mrs. Nyce
