Great News!! The Library is Open!!
Kinder can check out 2 books, 1st Grade are allowed 3 books, 2nd - 5th can check out 5 books at a time. Half day Kinders can visit the Library with a parent from 11 am to 11.15 am any day.

Special FFO Grant Voting Session Tuesday, September 3, 2019 @ 8:15 AM – 15 minutes Only!
We need YOU to come to the MPR and vote after drop-off.
Grab a cup of coffee and vote on the two grants that were presented at last week’s FFO meeting. NO NEW BUSINESS WILL BE DISCUSSED –This is not a new time for the monthly FFO meetings. Due to the time sensitive nature of the grants we want to have a vote before the next meeting.

Who is the Elementary School Counselor?
Ventana Vista’s Elementary School Counselor is Mrs. McCoy!
She is a certified professional who works within a child's total environment to assist students in addressing their academic, behavioral, emotional and social needs.
She helps to empower children to feel good about themselves and aids them in the process of making positive decisions that lead to healthy and meaningful lives.
What does the Elementary School Counselor do?
Serves as a "friendly helper" for ALL students and works with students on short term individual basis, small groups, and/or as a whole class.
Serves as the site coordinator for all 504 Accommodation Plans
Teaches monthly, whole group classroom lessons on social/emotional/academic development
Facilitates small groups (currently conducting New Student small groups)
Meets individually with students to talk about challenges & changes at home, with friendships, with feelings, & academics.
Oversees the Morning Announcements News Crew Team and is the coordinator for the 5 th Grade Student Ambassador Group
Consults with parents, teachers, administrators, and community agencies and aids in coordinating referrals to outside agencies
How can a Counselor help?
The School Counselor can provide support services to address a
number of issues, including (though certainly not limited to) the
following either individually or as a small group:
* Anger Management * Coping Skills * Parenting Skills * Anxiety * Divorce/Changing
Families * Self-Esteem * Behavior Modification * Friendship Skills * Social Skills * Conflict
Resolution * Grief and Loss * Stress Management
How does a student see the Counselor?
Students can see the Elementary Counselor via a self-referral (on my office door), parental request, and/or teacher or administrative referral.
Counseling is brief and solution focused. Referrals to long-term outside counseling services are available for children needing additional long-term support.
