LCMS Weekly Updates

By Tami Gunset

It is hard to believe that after this week we have completed our first Six Weeks of the new school year. Our teachers and students have worked very hard this first Six Weeks and I am pleased with their efforts. Please continue to look at your child's online grades and be in communication with their teachers so that they are successful.

  • End of the First Six Weeks - October 2

Pep Rally - Rock n Roll

Dress in your 80s rock attire. Holey Jeans can be worn for $1.00 and big, crazy, colored rocker hair will be acceptable for $1.00 as well. Money raised will be put toward the LCMS Cheer breast cancer awareness fund, to be donated in October.

Science Fair Meeting

Tuesday, Sep. 29th, 5:30pm

16302 Texas 493 Loop

Lubbock, TX

If your student is enrolled in Accelerated Science, they will be responsible for doing a science fair project. We will meet in the LCMS cafeteria to discuss expectations and checkpoints for their project. Please plan to attend as it is very important that you as a parent are aware of the expectations and deadlines. We will begin having students work on their science fair projects in October.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Academic UIL

Students have signed up to try out for various academic UIL Events. We will begin tryouts and practices this week. I am excited about the turn out of students that are interested in participating in these events. I expect each team to do very well and represent our campus well. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • November 2 - UIL Writing
  • November 17 - UIL Academic

Parents, we will need help this week with our football concession stand. Please sign up on SignUp Genius. You are greatly appreciated!

Normalizing Sexual Development, a new Abstinence-Plus program for ALL 6th grade students

There are certain Health TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) that all 6th graders must have. Texas Tech University has contracted with LCISD to present these TEKS to our 6th graders through their class, Normalizing Sexual Development, a new Abstinence-Plus program. The class will be presented to LCMS 6th graders during Technology or Health classes. There will be six lessons over the course of the next six weeks beginning Oct 6. The class is not optional as the students are required to have these specific Health TEKS, however, there is an optional evaluation (survey) that is being offered to students and their families.

We look forward to your students learning through this partnership with Texas Tech and welcome any questions you may have.

If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Gunset at 806-863-7104 or Jane Kitten at 806-863-7100.
