naptime fact sheet
quick facts:
The average bedtime of college students is between midnight and one AM on weekdays. The average rise time is near eight AM- that's seven or eight hours of sleep. Ideally, college students should get about nine.
the struggle...
improving your sleep pattern can also improve your academic performance.
earbuds in!
only ten percent of college students use aids other than noise- like music- to put them to sleep.
can't sleep?
one-third of college students take longer than thirty minutes to fall asleep.
Hate to say it...
But you shouldn't treat your weekend any differently. In order to have a steady schedule, you should be going to bed and getting up at the same time every day- whether or not it's a Monday or a Friday.
How long should I nap for?
If you nap for longer than 45 minutes but shorter than 90, you'll wake up at a difficult time in your sleep cycle- one that will not allow you to be as alert as you would after a 20 minute catnap or after catching up on 2 hours of sleep. If you need to get busy as soon as you wake up, don't sleep for longer than 45 minutes!
