Mighty Tritons

Team:

One more week until the break. Let's stay on top of everything this week as we wrap up this quarter. The administration team will be sending you information regarding some of our LTEL data. Please preview and consider all of the support systems available including counseling and after school tutoring on Thursday and Wednesday. Please be mindful of the following:

A. SLT Meeting. See all of you SLT members this Wednesday starting at 8:15. Bring some snacks for all! We will have some details to share on Monday.

B. Faculty Meeting. We will have a faculty meeting this Wednesday. See you at 3:25. We will discuss the SBAC format and some safety items.

C. Safety Drill. Reminder: Our final safety drill is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 at 9:55AM. The drill will be an Earthquake and Fire evacuation drill. Please have students bring their belongings as they will be released to nutrition break immediately following the drill. Campus security and support staff will be releasing groups in an orderly fashion. Please wait for their direction to release your students. In addition, please ensure you have the appropriate accountability sheets for these drills.

D. Social Luncheon. Here is the link for the Social Luncheon on Friday. Burrito and a drink! We will be eating outside near the 400 wing. Let’s leave for the break on a bang! Get out and join us even if you bring your own food. Mingle with other staff members that you hardly see!

E. Summer Opportunities. Be on the lookout for some great teaching and learning opportunities. Below are some of my favorites!

A Message from our Assistant Principals!

Next Safety Drill: March 19th (Earthquake and Evacuation). Look for an email from Dean.

Safety Tip of the Week: Have a hard copy of your attendance ready at all times—this will help in the event of an evacuation.

We came across this awesome opportunities from Sea World and Disneyland. You might want to check them out!

Resilience(Triton Trait of the Month!)

Adversity is a fact of life. Resilience is that ineffable quality that allows some people to be knocked down by life and come back at least as strong as before. Rather than letting difficulties or failure overcome them and drain their resolve, they find a way to rise from the ashes. Psychologists have identified some of the factors that make a person resilient, among them a positive attitude, optimism, the ability to regulate emotions, and the ability to see failure as a form of helpful feedback. Research shows that optimism helps blunt the impact of stress on the mind and body in the wake of disturbing experiences. And that gives people access to their own cognitive resources, enabling cool-headed analysis of what might have gone wrong and consideration of behavioral paths that might be more productive. Resilience is not some magical quality; it takes real mental work to transcend hardship. But even after misfortune, resilient people are able to change course and move toward achieving their goals. There's growing evidence that the the elements of resilience can be cultivated.

This month we want to highlight this trait of Resilience. We encourage you to meet life’s challenges head on! And for the days where it seems life is winning and you can’t catch a break, power through the pain and disappointment with a positive attitude. Accept the roller coaster of wins and losses and turn them all into learning experiences that make you a better person.

Check out our library of resources that we can use to discuss the Triton Traits with our students. Please feel free to add links to any documents you have created (upload to google drive and copy link) or links to videos, articles, and images you have found online that we can all use to share with our students.

Also, consider nominating students for Triton of the Week who exemplify the Triton Trait of Resilience.
