Superintendent Update
It's a Great Day in the School District of Beloit
August 29, 2021
Message from our Superintendent Dr. Dan Keyser
Good Afternoon School District of Beloit Families,
Back to School Night is a great way for your child(ren) to meet their teacher(s), tour their school, and drop off school supplies. Our Back to School Night and times for each school are included in this newsletter. Face coverings are required during all Back to School Nights.
We are excited to see our students back in school on Wednesday, September 1. This school year, I plan to be in our school buildings, visiting classrooms, having lunch with students, participating in activities and events, and meeting with families. I look forward to making connections and building relationships with our students and families this year.
For the safety and health of our students, staff, and volunteers, we will require face coverings to be worn at all times in our school buildings and on our school buses, with the exception of lunch and recess. We continue to follow the guidance set forth by the CDC and Rock County Health Department in all our decision-making.
Enjoy the rest of your afternoon. I will be out and about on Wednesday greeting our students!
Kind regards,
Dr. Dan Keyser

Message from Our Athletic and Activities Director, Mr. Joel Beard
Unsupervised students have become a safety concern. Therefore, for the upcoming 2021 high school football season, Elementary and Intermediate school-aged students will not be permitted to attend home football games at Beloit Memorial High School unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We appreciate your understanding and support and look forward to seeing you and your student(s) at our home football games this fall. #GoPurpleKnights

All fees have been waived and instruments will be provided free of charge.
We want to be sure that our students have the opportunity to participate in the arts. The benefits of music participation include both social and academic development; in addition, band, choir, and orchestra classes are a great way to connect with peers and build lasting friendships.

Food Truck Update
Our Food Trucks are Ready to Roll!
During the school day, our students will be able to enjoy breakfast and lunch meals free of charge from our food trucks. These trucks are an enhancement to the National School Lunch Program within the District. During non-school time, these trucks can be used for fundraising purposes for our student-driven activities and athletics.
We are a District that continually Thinks Beyond Now. It is important to us that we continue to look for ways to stay engaged with our students, families, and community. What better way than with food? Food fosters community and conversation by bringing people together. Enjoying a nutritious and healthy meal with friends and family reinforces social relationships, improves communication and increases academic success.
This summer we hosted a social media contest to name our food trucks. Congratulations to our Beloit Memorial High School students Anahi Arroyo with the winning name, The Lunch Box and to Lauren Johns with the winning name of Cruisin’ Cuisine.
We will keep our families updated on when the food trucks will be at your child’s school.
