Pike Road Schools
Think. Innovate. Create.
October 2016
The Mission of Pike Road Schools
To create a culture of intellectual curiosity where all students have
ownership of their learning and are inspired to think, innovate and create.
Falling In Love With Learning
Alabama humidity keeps most days feeling like summer, but Fall is in the air at Pike Road School! From creating hay bales and scarecrows to celebrating Chinese New Year, our learners are discovering new things with each passing day. We are so impressed by all our Patriots have accomplished in just two short months. We cannot wait to see what this fall brings, as we continue to challenge learners to think, innovate and create. We can’t help but notice countless smiling faces and exciting conversations about upcoming projects. If we didn’t know better, we’d say our Patriots are falling in love with learning!
Checkout a few of our favorite pictures of our Patriots discovering the joy of learning.
Are you noticing the same thing at home? Share your pictures with us using #PRSfallsinlovewithlearning. We look forward to seeing your pictures and hearing your stories this fall.
Parent Conferences
As a reminder, parent conferences will be held Monday, October 10. We encourage all parents to attend. If you have not received information from your child’s lead learner, please email them to setup a designated conference time. Please remember, there will be no school for learners on this day. If you are unable to attend the conference, a copy of your child’s Learning Snapshot will be sent home on Tuesday.

Hey, Can You Help?
It’s time for the Town of Pike Road’s annual “Hey, Look At Us” hay bale decorating contest. This is one of the town’s oldest traditions and it’s a favorite for all ages. Pike Road Schools is proud to participate in this contest. We hope to have a shot at being a top contender this year, but we can't do it without your help. If you are crafty or have access to tools or materials that we might need, we’d love to have your helping hand. If you are interested in volunteering to help our learners coordinate and create our hay bale, please email kadie.crowell@pikeroadschools.org. We appreciate your help and look forward to hearing from you.
PTSA Has Something To Say
THANK YOU to everyone who joined PTSA during our membership drive! With your help we have nearly 50% participation throughout the school. We have raises $4,500 thus far and we look forward to seeing this number continue to increase. Congratulations to communities 1 and 6! They had the highest percentage of participation and will soon be celebrating with PIZZA and POPSICLE parties.
Don’t Forget: Our membership drive may be over, but you can join PTSA at anytime! We’d love to have you on our team. Together we can accomplish MORE! Thank you again for your help and participation.
The Book Fair Is Coming. The Book Fair Is Coming.

What's Cooking In PRS Cafe?
The PRS Cafe staff works hard to ensure our Patriots have delicious and nutritious menu items from which to choose. New a la carte items and other food varieties are now available for our learners. If you haven't checked out our menu, be sure to do so soon! Click here to view October’s breakfast menu. Click here to checkout October’s lunch options. We love creating food for fuel for our Patriots.

Each entry must also conform to the guidelines developed by the National PTA.
