Sheep, also known as ovis aries, can live to around 10-12 years old. There is around 1,000 breeds of sheep in the world; however, there is about 50 breeds of sheep in the United States. As of now, the largest number of sheep population is in present day China.

The rambouillet sheep is the most popular commercial sheep in America.
Merino Wool Sheep
The merino wool sheep accounts for 50% of the world's sheep population.
